I drop in once and awhile when im in the area and really hungry.
The Italian combo sub is actually pretty good. I would recommend but it needs more meat. Stay away from the chicken Parm. It's seems akin to something you would get in NYC public schools at lunchtime. It's like chicken patty w filler- not actual chicken cutlet.
The staff is really friendly and hard working- however- If theres more than two people ahead of you, prepare to wait for at least 15- 20 mins. The staff is awesome though and they are the gems that make this place worthwhile.
All in all- nothing fancy, just a bodega that sells some household items, some beverages and makes some sandwiches. Some of their sandwiches are good, some should be avoided. Seems to be a neighborhood staple.
Pros- approachable, affordable, decent Italian combo subs, beer in cooler, friendly staff, not overpriced, easy location, household goods- authentic neighborhood spot- not some b.s overpriced hipster bullsht.
*Cons- very slow if busy, not many sandwich options, not good...
Read moreI’ve been coming here since the early 2000s, back when Frank was the owner. It used to be a neighborhood staple — reliable, consistent, and worth the visit.
Last week, I ordered a sandwich on a roll — first mistake: they put it on a hero. Then the bread was so hard I could barely take two bites before tossing it. I still gave them the benefit of the doubt, thinking maybe it was just an off day.
Today I came back and ordered French toast with scrambled eggs and beef sausage. What kind of beef sausage is this? It looked and tasted like “brown and serve” — completely unacceptable for a deli that used to take pride in quality ingredients. The eggs? Nothing scrambled about them. They looked like they were meant for a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich — flat, overcooked, and lifeless.
I’ve been coming here since I was a little girl, and it’s honestly sad to say — never again. The quality has gone downhill, and it’s just not the same...
Read moreThis is a Mama Louisa bacon, egg and cheese sandwich. Where are the standards? Where is the pride in a job well done? What have the customers done to deserve this level of disrespect? And all for $4.50...GTFOH! Back-way-back - I used to get the Artichoke Parm and it was good - well now that too tastes like $∆!T on a shingle. I remember when Frank was behind the counter and you could smell the oven fresh turkey being made all the way down to Fenimore. What a mistake for him to retire and leave his Flagship Deli in the hands of people who only care about the $$$$$. Moma Louisa's is a place where prices can change daily/weekly depending on the mood of the person behind the counter... And where food standards have been completely forgotten. No one ever lost money underestimating the intelligence of the...
