Nothing beats a mouthful of soft buns, am I right?😅 New York, I am envious that you have @maosbao serving up some of the best Jian Baos (Pan Fried Buns) that I have ever tried👌🏽 The variety of salivating flavors they offer is amazing & perfect for the whole squad💯 Pork, beef, chicken, Impossabao (impossible burger in a bao), & lamb w/ cumin! My recommendation here —> Pork, lamb, impossabao buns & their Pian Er Chuan or other known as PCR Noodles that are a must (bamboo shoot, pork slices, noodles & sliced veggies)😮‍💨🤌🏽

Mao’s Bao only has two different kinds of dumplings to choose from so I would expect them to be done well. While the flavor was there for some of them the execution was subpar as a whole, and I could not recommend anyone come here.

I ordered a set of 5 jian bao (fried bottom dumplings) for $10. They had 5 different kinds so I ordered one of each (pork, beef, chicken, lamb, and impossible meat).

The first one I had was the pink pork one and it was tasty. I got them to-go to eat in a park so I didn’t expect them to be fresh and crispy, but even then the skin was a bit cold and the bottom wasn’t very crispy to begin with. The skin was also a bit on the thick and chewy side for my taste.

After that each dumpling that I had continued to be less appetizing. In terms of flavor the pork one was definitely the best. I had my hopes up after the first bite but was quickly...

Tried a bounty of Bao at @maosbao at @chelseamarketny for a @grabbdapp collab this weekend! Did you know there’s more vendors downstairs? That’s where they’re located, in @pearlrivermart ! There’s a few other vendors in the mini food court in the Asian grocer and some more options outside of it. Definitely lots of choices to check out. So glad I got to try Mao’s Bao though. They color code their doughs to identify the fillings in them. White is for the classic popular pork; yellow for chicken with corn; orange for beef with veggies; blue marks for lamb with cumin; and green for @impossible_foods impossible burger with soy and mushrooms. Each one was delicious!

I also got to chat with the team while sipping on some @teaandmilkny coffee milk tea boba! They’re another one of the wonderful vendors locations...

I never write reviews but after this experience I felt like I should at least write something. Staff was nice, but seemed to struggle with their ordering system.

After eating the dumplings my wife and I Felt like we got an old batch or something despite seeing them pull them out of a hot dish. The dough was tough and rubbery and the meat lacked any flavor. We got a couple of each flavor initially because we’ve always love Bao buns and felt like these would be a great easy choice. Couldn’t have been more wrong. my wife and I lived in the bathroom all day with gurgling upset stomachs and a couple #2 trips every hour or so. It kinda ruined the day for us and kept us from eating anything the rest of the day! Avoid this place if you can, so many other options in that market, look around for...
