Melt Shop — Restaurant in New York

The service here was extremely disgusting, unwelcoming, and absolutely unacceptable. My chorus group and I came here visiting from virginia to grab some dinner on April 27. At around 8:20pm, while ordering on the tablets they told us “no more burgers”, which was fine. Then while getting our food at about 8:30pm, they suddenly told us that their lobby was “closed” and expected all of us (other customers as well) to leave. The store DEFINITELY closed at 9pm. If they wanted to really close the lobby early they couldn’t tell us that while they were telling us they had no more burgers? Or take off the dine in option on the tablets? We were met with extremely rude employees while trying to eat our dinner, specifically a girl slamming around the chairs on top of the tables and mopping to rush us out, and employees behind the counter giving my classmates and I dirty looks while we ate BEFORE THEY EVEN CLOSED! Extremely unprofessional and rude. As a food service worker myself, you are ABSOLUTELY NOT ALLOWED to kick customers out of the store, especially not before closing time. Before I start I must say that I am a tourist visiting NYC so my taste in food might be a bit different but anyways. I would normally never rate a fast food restaurant but i felt I needed to for this one. For starters when we ordered we did not get a receipt from the machine we ordered trought. A very nice lady told us that the machines don't give out receipts which took me by surprise as at this point i had no proof of what i purchased. Turns out we would be needing this nonexistent receipt later. We ordered our food and ended up getting the wrong tater tots for both portions we ordered and we were missing a portion of fries. No big deal could be an honest mistake. Anyways we got to eating and it was not good. The tater tots and chicken were both fried in overburnt oil it left a terrible taste. In addition the In general the food had a weird taste especially the potatoes and burgers. The chicken was not bad actually but all of it was ruined by the obviously burnt oil it was fried in. In general the experience was bad compared to our expectations especially considering the good rating. I recently visited Melt Shop for the first time and I was very impressed with the food. I ordered the Crispy Chicken Melt, which is made with grilled sourdough bread, crispy chicken tenders, American cheese, bacon, and ranch dressing. The sandwich was absolutely delicious! The chicken was cooked perfectly and the bread was crispy and buttery. The cheese was gooey and melted, and the bacon added a nice salty crunch. The ranch dressing was the perfect finishing touch.

I also tried the loaded tater tots, which were also very good. They were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. They were served with a side of ketchup, which was perfect for dipping.

The service at Melt Shop was also excellent. The staff was friendly and efficient.

Overall, I had a great experience at Melt Shop. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was fun and casual. I would definitely recommend Melt Shop to anyone looking for a great grilled cheese sandwich or a quick and...
