Read moreI bought a sandwich from this place yesterday and when I got back to my hotel to eat it, I saw that there was lettuce in it. When I called to find out what type of lettuce it was, the person working there said it was romaine and that romaine lettuce was what they used in their sandwiches. When I asked him if he was aware that the CDC issued a food safety alert and said that people should not eat any romaine lettuce due to the E. coli outbreak, nor should restaurants be serving it to customers, he said "the manager's not here, nobody no tell me nothing, so I don't know". This is inexcusable. This food safety alert was issued 2 DAYS prior to when I ordered that sandwich! So that means they have been serving customers a food item that the CDC is issuing a warning about, days after the fact. Was the manager not in for 2 days? Somehow it's ok not to inform staff about food safety issues? How can an establishment that serves food not be up to date with current food safety regulations or alerts??? There is literally an E. coli outbreak in romaine lettuce and they're still serving romaine lettuce??? Never going here again. This is unsafe...

The guys behind the counter, without being overly familiar, gave us a shy smile that made us feel at ease and kindly answered our questions. The place was very clean and organized, despite always being packed with people. The products we tried were delicious: a bagel with cream cheese, black coffee, hot chocolate, muffins—everything was great. As for the prices: there are probably cheaper places, but when you’re in NYC, what difference does a dollar more or less make? At that moment, the experience was...
