Came here a few weeks ago with my sister and some friends while we killed time as she was getting her BA degree and wrapping things up with the actual ceremony and had a few drinks with her parents who were in town from LA and taking her and her closest friends out for celebratory dinner/drinks nearby.
We wanted outdoor drinks and since Mother Burger and Blockheads were super busy and with 30+ minute wait times we stumbled upon this place. I saw a sign that said $5 margaritas and I saw a table for 4 with no patrons using it so we hopped on in and the waitress was super hospitable about letting us grab it and grab another chair for a friend who was on her way.
This place happens to be located right across the street from where our friend, the proud graduate, lives and we had seen it before many times but this was our first time here. Gotta say, for midtown/hells kitchen - their happy hour did not disappoint!
$3 Bahama Mammas, $3 Bay Breezes, (all day) $5 frozen margaritas with a multitude of flavors for $1 more and most martinis and fancier cocktails are $6 during HH which lasts until 9pm.
Both the Bahama Mammas and the Bay Breezes were delicious - very sweet - but A.) You get what you pay for and B.) They were still delicious, had a decent alcohol content and were super refreshing given how warm it was that afternoon.
The margaritas were the only downer for me here, I normally really dislike margaritas because I have a really strong disdain for sour mix and only enjoy margaritas that are made well (lime juice, NOT chemical ridden "simple" syrup or nasty sour mix!) and on the rocks - but for $5 I decided to give their frozen margarita a try in the regular lime flavor.
At first it's okaaaaaaay, especially if you're thirsty because it's nice and cold...but then it begins to taste weirdly frothy and my friend and I detected notes of soap. I guarantee there was no soap or soap residue in our glass - it just tastes like soap. The $4-5 frozen margs at Blockhead's definitely taste better.
Another friend ordered guacamole that was served with nachos. They were ok, not awful. The food menu looks pretty interesting and with the $3 Bahama mammas and Bay Breezes (and convenient location to my friend's house) I would definitely come back here again on a nice,...
Read moreI came to Mickey's yesterday for drinks, and everyone was pleasant. I initially wanted to order a margarita on the rocks thinking it was $4 (based on the large signs that say drinks, beer, & shots are $4). The server asked me if I wanted a double or a single, so I asked the price difference, and he told me $10 and $20 respectively. I told him I thought all drinks were $4, and he then informed me that it was only the frozen margaritas and well drinks. That's fine, but the signage is very misleading. The last time I was there, the server never made that clear to me, and it was evident that had I not asked, this server would not have been upfront about the prices either...not a lot of integrity in that. Moving on - I hadn't eaten all day, so I decided to try some food (I didn't eat here the first time). I ordered guac and chips and the buffalo chicken nachos. The guac was BLAND. I ate about 5% of it (if that much). The buffalo chicken nachos were absolutely inedible. I said as much to the server, and he apologized and removed the FULL plate of nachos from the table. I asked him to bring me fries because how can you mess up fries? Welp, apparently it CAN be done. I'm not sure how fries can be overcooked and undercooked at the same time, but they were. They tasted like they'd been cooked the day before then refried in old grease and brought out to me. I could not eat them. When I mentioned my disappointment in the food, the server said, "Well, we're a bar, soooo..." to which I replied, "Yes, you're a bar, but your food should still be edible." Incredibly disappointed in the food and his response to my concerns, I asked for the check and left. I wasted $50 on food I could not eat. The server never tried to rectify the situation; he never got a manager to come speak to me. He was pleasant, but if a customer is telling you that the food is inedible, then maybe the thing to do is try to accommodate the customer in some way. Very sad that no one attempted to make things right for me. Also, the bathrooms needed...
Read moreTerrible experience. The staff & security are so rude so before me & my friend even got to be seated we had to deal with the rude security & worst of all, The owner was very rude. My friend who ate the wings felt sick & threw up at the moment being that the chicken was undercooked when we asked in the first place. We weren't trying to complain or get anything out of it we were still going to pay . Somehow the owner heard about it. He comes to our table with an obnoxious tone asking about the wings (this is while my friend was literally at the bathroom throwing up so i'm speaking for him) I told him what happened & he responds with the most arrogant tone "That's a drag!" I said "okay" not trying to go back & forth with him because I didn't want anything in the first place. He carries on saying "Listen i'm the owner, you can google me & my restaurant I never get any complaints about my food so what your saying it a drag" I continue to say "okay" he just keeps going boosting his own ego & kept saying that it's a 'drag'. Now i'm getting annoyed because I was ignoring him & he still keeps going so then says "so what you want to do?" I responded & told him I didn't want anything I & don't even know why the server told you we still want to pay. He replies "yeah because like I said its a drag, but ill agree to disagree with you" walks off & says he'll give us a discount on the wings, which we didn't ask for. All for when the bill to come & he didn't even discount us. So did all that to boost his own ego because he couldn't take criticism about his undercooked food. Pathetic & uncouth behavior, do not advise...
