Is this the best breakfast in NYC? Part 211 #NYC #Brooklyn #NY #NewYorkCity #Foodie #Breakfast #Brunch #Lunch

Disappointed is an understatement… I loved mikes for its classic no frills atmosphere and delicious food at an affordable cost. My parents fell in love over their griddle cakes and continued to rave about this place throughout their many decades of marriage. So naturally, of course, I fell in love with the place as well. I continued to patronize Mike’s even throughout the heart of the pandemic because the food was THAT good! I recommended this place to countless friends and family members visiting the city or venturing to clinton hill for the first time. They all had nothing but glowing reviews of this adorable, cozy diner. Vacations, birthdays, holidays, even funerals, you name it, everyone in my family loved eating at Mikes! Unfortunately, today I ordered a takeout cheeseburger that came with the added luxury of a MOLDED hamburger bun. I have patronized this spot more than a few dozen times under the old owner and I have never been served something like this. The bun was so moldy that I find it hard to believe that the cooks did not notice it, especially since it was not busy. I noticed the mold within 3 minutes of opening the box… I also worry about how many other burgers were served today from the same moldy package of buns that I almost had the pleasure to enjoy. I understand that mistakes happen but the level of mold on this bun is completely unacceptable. Mold to this degree takes more than just 2 weeks to develop. I was so disgusted that I couldn't even bring myself to take a picture of the top bun without gagging. It saddens me to say that my family, friends and I won’t be patronizing this establishment anymore. Mold is incredibly dangerous and with some types, it can even be fatal. I am beyond disappointed…. This is how you lose loyal customers.

Great neighborhood diner that provides the best prices I’ve seen in the area. My friends and I came here for Saturday morning brunch and there was a bit of a line but it moved quickly. We ordered omelettes, which come with your choice of potatoes or grits and your choice of whole wheat or white toast (excellent deal!). We also ordered blueberry pancakes for the table. Everything tasted fine, though the pancakes were a bit on the bland side. Service was speedy and friendly. All in all, I 100% recommend this spot for breakfast, lunch or brunch any day of the week — and if you incur a line, know that it’s worth the wait.

Let me begin by saying I'm anti-hipster establishments, esp in the BX. My wife asked me to take her to this place to satisfy her weekly hipster cravings, given that i married a closet hipster. In any case and surprisingly, I like this place and enjoyed the environment it created. The prices I thought were suspicious but once I saw the entire establishment (including the bathroom) and the backyard, I can understand why the prices were where they are. In fact, I actually think it's reasonable. I once gave one of my wife's other hipster place in China town a 2 star for the unjustifiable price they were selling ice creams (7$ per person), but this place is all right. The service was also excellent!

If you're a cool husband like me with a closet hipster wife, take her to this place. You'll actually enjoy it. Order the croissant with Nutella and talk to your wife about how beautiful she is and how lovely your life is now that you're married. Make sure you keep a straight face...

Been eating there way back in the mid 90's. Used to be good there until the hood got gentrified. Service is good and fast even on weekends. On weekends try to arrive before church mass break because place will be jam and you'll be outside at the corner looking hype for a good 20-50 min. Come solo and eat at the booth its way faster there. Come on weekdays, place is pretty much barely empty. Reason I'm giving Mike's dinner a 3 star. They don't pay employees well. $4 bucks a hour waiter $3 for bus boy and $15 for main cook. Tips must be devided among everyone including Owens. For a place that is busy on weekends and generate good money always must look out for it's employees who are the backbone of this diner. Besides that I prefer this joint...
