Mike's Pizzeria & Restaurant has been servicing the Yelowstone Blvd area for over twenty years and my guess is a few years north of just twenty. Some things have changed at Mikes and some seem the same. Inside the decor has completely changed from an A typical NY pizza parlor look (a lot of red and terracotta colors) to a more modern design. That is the Change. What has stayed the same? Since grabbing my first slice at Mikes to my last which was yesterday, the pizza is the same.
The slices still fashion a doughy crust has your jaws overworking for this simple act of consumption. The cheese way quite good and the portion was a heavy hand toward more cheese than less. The sauce is thin in flavor but balances well with the cheese. Entrees are always a fair value for your money.
Additionally on this day, I ordered a Stromboli to go. Nothing to say in terms of being overly good nor overly bad. Just standard operating procedure at Mike's. I think that is why they remain to this day. In the infamous works of one George Castansia when promoting the potential spot for intern for the young man who wants to be an architect, yet has a 2.00GPA... "Not showing off, not falling behind" That is Mikes in a nutshell...
Read moreThe food is ok, nothing to brag about at all. The service is horrible. Went there with the family for dinner and the waitress was rude. They forgot to make my daughter's dinner and when I asked her where it was she said it would be a few minutes, but went back behind the counter never checking with the kitchen. After several more minutes I went up to the counter to check on my daughter's dinner, as we were all almost finished eating and her food still hadn't arrived they finally went into the kitchen area and found out they overlooked her order and would make it right away. So we had to wait even longer. If the waitress would have done her job in the first place and checked when I first asked her about it we wouldn't have had to wait at least an additional 10 minutes for her meal. Also, it wasn't like the place was busy, they had a couple of to go orders, but there was NO ONE else in the restaurant that the waitress was attending to, so you can't say maybe she was busy, she was just standing behind the counter doing NOTHING. We will not be going back...
Read moreI help out at a local bike shop and believe firmly in supporting the small local businesses in the area. I have my preferences, but like to give everyone a fair shake. I recently did a walk in at Mike's for the first time in years, had a couple slices and took home a veal parm hero. That was enough to make me consider ordering delivery, which I did yesterday. Got a mixed bag as it has been too hot to cook. Got a large pie, half plain, half sausage and mushrooms, chicken piccata w broccoli, and an order of rigatoni a la puttenesca. Everything was very good, the sausage side of the pie could have been done just a little more(plain side fine), but I dont mind as I have a perfectly good toaster oven, and my elderly mom cant chew if its too tough, so really no issue there for me, and she enjoyed the mushroom/sausage slice. I know it's hard to be consistently pleasing to people, esp. the pickier ones(that never worked retail) but thumbs up as far as I'm concerned. I...
