We came on a Saturday, mid-afternoon, five people. First thing we tried to order, a soup called the Patasca (which it says is only available on Saturdays and Sundays) was not available. Two people in our party ordered the Parillada, and they came back to tell us that half of the items were unavailable. They wanted to change the order completely but we suggested they add more of what they do have instead, they agreed. I wanted to order the skirt steak with two sides, but instead of one of the sides (each one is $6 on their own) I wanted them to add the shrimp to my order (which they charge an additional $5 for when you order the steak). They refused. It was saving them $1 which isn’t the point, but it wouldn’t cost them anything to make the substitution, they couldn’t explain why they couldn’t do it. The parihuela, for $28?!! The bowl was the same size as the $8 soups. I understand there’s seafood in it, but that much for a medium size bowl of soup? I’ve never seen anything like it. The yuca a la huancaina was almost raw, it was so hard not boiled through at all and it came cold. The rest of the food was good, but not memorable. We had to ask for our water to be refilled. We also had dessert and one of them was not available. Some of the issues I understand is not the staff’s fault, but it just shows poor planning and management. How are you out of meat from a popular dish mid-day Saturday? Not to mention the other things they didn’t have. They also added a large party charge to our bill (for a group of 5?!) which was not mentioned anywhere beforehand. They said it’s just service charge, 20%, since when do we automatically charge 20% tip on a group of five without mentioning it on the menu or anywhere beforehand? Anyway we did not have a positive experience. I’m glad the other people in...
Read moreWe’ve been to Peru, we know how delicious the cuisine is. But I don’t think the food here did the cuisine justice. Staff is friendly and has actually listened to our feedback. So this is definitely worth a star.
Ordered the causa de pollo, but it was salty and we could barely see any chicken. We checked with the waitress, and she said the mayo in the middle was the chicken. Okay, fine… but we didn’t finish the food because it was too salty
It took the kitchen 20 minutes to bring out the soup aguadito. So this is a classic Peruvian chicken soup, and I love it back in Peru. The umami that the free-range chicken stock brings out is what makes the soup delicious. But the soup here doesn’t taste any chicken stock at all. It feels like water with lime juice, and they throw the roasted chicken in the middle, so the soup barely tastes anything chicken. And I have no idea why the soup took so long.
And it took the kitchen 30 minutes to bring out the arroz de mariscos, which is the seafood paella. I always prefer the Peruvian version to the Spanish paella, but this one is meh. Paella takes longer because it’s baked, but arroz de mariscos isn’t, so I have no idea why it took so long. The small shrimps and squids are dry…They should have informed us that it would take 30 minutes to prepare the food.
Again, staff are sweet to us, but the food isn’t… I wanted to like this restaurant, but the food...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Mikhuy, and I must say, it was an incredible experience from start to finish. The moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warm hospitality and a beautifully decorated space that reflects the vibrant culture of Peru.
The menu is a true celebration of Peruvian cuisine, offering a delightful mix of traditional flavors and modern twists. We started with their ceviche, which was incredibly fresh, bursting with citrusy goodness and the perfect hint of spice. The anticuchos (grilled beef heart skewers) were tender and smoky, served with a delicious sauce that complemented every bite. The Lomo Saltado was a standout dish—juicy beef strips stir-fried with onions, tomatoes, and fries, delivering the perfect balance of flavors. And of course, the fried fish was crispy on the outside, flaky and moist inside, a true delight!
What truly sets this restaurant apart is not only the authenticity of the food but also the passion and friendliness of the staff. They were knowledgeable about the menu and eager to share recommendations, making the dining experience even more enjoyable.
If you’re looking for a place to indulge in delicious Peruvian flavors, Mikhuy is a must-visit. I will definitely be coming back to explore more of their...
