This sauerkraut fish restaurant is a chain that have multiple locations including one in 8th Avenue Brooklyn, and Flushing Queens.

The place is not that big and bigger groups might have harder time to find settings for everyone if it gets busy.

The service is friendly and maybe because the place is newly open as of this writing, the staff comes by every once in awhile to check up on us and ask us how the food was.

Some of the food we tried:

-Steamed soup Dumplings. Good soup and pork flavor but for the soup Dumplings it is thicker than some of the better places that serves this.

Sliced marble beef dry pot made not spicy. Considering we got this as not spicy, it was surprisingly flavorful. We had other places where we order mild or not spicy for dry pot and it is usually inferior to the spicy version.

-sliced fish dry pot medium spicy. For mild spicy this was decently hot. I loved their version of this dry pot. A generous amount of fish was in the bowl. They seem to have fried the fish fish which gives it a nice firmer exterior but still moist soft fish meat inside.

All the dry pots comes with your choice of protein and includes, chinese cabbage, seaweed, black fungus, dried bean curd, sausage, and a bowl of white rice.

-tomato flavor sauerkraut fish. Didn't get to try this. The person that ordered this said it was OK.

-house signature chainese sauerkraut flavor soup with sliced fish. If you like slightly spicy and you like sour flavor, this is a really food version of sauerkraut fish soup. It goes so well with the included rice.

-fresh mushroom flavor soup with sliced fish. Good mushroom flavor if that is your thing. Overall the flavor is much more mellow and tame compared to the house signature version. It is also not spicy so it's good for those that could not take spicy food but might disappoint those that are seeking some heat. Not bad but for me the house signature is the one to get for my preference if I had to choose between the two.

Overall I enjoyed the restaurant and is a welcome addition to the Bensonhurst...

Not that good - Sauerkraut fish? I thought I would try it! I went in and sat down, the place was noticeably quiet no background music, very plain, very few pictures on the wall. I asked the server what do you recommend, I have never been here before, what is one of your most popular dishes? Nobody in this place could speak english, so I went to yelp and picked what dishes seemed to be popular. I went with seafood soup and popcorn chicken. The seafood soup came with extraordinarily little fish in it. The fish looked like either basa or carp, but it was mostly a leafy vegetable in a not so tasty broth. It did not look like the dish on thier site either, . I ordered extra seaweed in the soup; it was the highlight of this soup. I didn't get that balance of spicy and sour their site descibed it as. Thank goodness I ordered the popcorn chicken, which was particularly good! The ambiance, lack of communication and food was just not there for me. It was a very bland, tasteless, not so memorable meal. I love Asian food, and I do not mean the fast-food chow mein places, the real places, but this one wasn't it. This must be the worst meals I have eaten on 86th...

I decided to come here after work to get dinner. It was a cold, rainy day so I thought a nice, hot, golden hot and sour fish soup would be perfect. Want my honest opinion? It was so horrible, I had to share my experience in hopes they’ll improve the recipe and no one tried what I had.

I love hot and sour fish soup, but after a few spoonfuls of the soup I couldn’t do it. I ended up picking at the fish and the rest is left to waste. The seaweed was also not cleaned properly and has a funny taste to it. The soup tastes like the chef dumped spoonfuls of salt and vinegar like there was no tomorrow. Like really, it was so bad. I’m disappointed that out of all restaurants I could have chose in the area, I decided on this one - I’m sorry restaurant owner, but I just don’t know how you guys can make one of your signature dishes this...
