we have been back a few times and it's as great as ever. I do have one criticism. It's not a complaint. It's criticism. Their sign hanging outside while it's very arty looking is barely noticeable, it doesn't stand out. The text fonts are very narrow and the colors just kind of bland and blend into the building. You can see the barber shop next to them. Notably from further further away and you can see everything much better because the signage is much better than theirs. So Nick's if you guys are listening don't do anything about the sign because if you do more people will come there and it'll be too crowded for me to go. This is a very, very good Pizza Shop/Restaurant! We ordered a Large Pizza ($18.75) with half spinach / half sausage (+$4.00). Delicious! Thin crust, some char, tasty sauce, FRESH Basil... Glass of wine. Bottle of Peroni Beer. Only issue was no cup for the beer. Glass wine glass for the wine, only plastic or paper cup for the beer (or out of the bottle which I chose). The menu is limited pretty much to Pizza, Salads, Calzones. Oh and desserts! No heros, no pasta - just Pizza. I've posted updated menus as of April 2021, some of the menus listed date from 4 years ago. The ceilings (a nice tin ceiling), look to be about 14' tall, could support a basketball hoop. Near the Ascan Ave LIRR underpass, and their signage is no particularly bright or noticeable, so you might not notice them. Spend the time to find them, the Pizza...

Now that that’s out of the way, a regular pizza pie does not look like the picture I’ve attached, and as far as I’m concerned if you don’t make the “standard” regular pie you should inform the customer of that. I couldn’t tell if the cheese was falling off the slice or attempting to flea the abundance of sauce and blackened crust. Well done is great, black is burned. Along with this “pizza” they sent soda several months expired. Upon my call to inform them of their expired soda, I was informed that it is just soda, and asked if I wanted to make some sort of big deal about it. I will never eat at this place nor any other place named Nick’s pizza. Box was good, used it to level table in garage. Do yourself a favor, frozen pizza will arrive at your table less cold and better tasting.
Edit November 2017 Upon seeing the owners response I feel it necessary to add a small bit of information on the expired soda. When I called to mention the expired soda, just before I was told it’s just soda, the woman on the phone went and checked and thought the bottles said 2019 when in fact they said 2017 and had been months expired. I appreciate the owners response, but don’t tell me I can’t read an expiration date. It’s a pizza place not a 5 Star dining experience. I don’t care that you had expired soda bottles, I simply wanted to let you know so you could remove them before selling...
Read moreSmall pizza restaurant noted for charred (burnt) crust! If you like blackened crust this is your goal place. I had a calzone with spinach and garlic. The calzone came and was the right price for the size. However the spinach was not sautéed with the garlic and then added to the calzone being cooked together! It was boiled plain spinach with raw garlic added to the calzone as either an after thought or a whoops!? I asked the waitress manager about this and she said they had no facility to cook or saute the spinach and garlic together! Yet no mention of this on menu or by server. They are not easily handicapped accessible and I couldn't see where the bathroom was?
They strike me as a pizzeria that took in some tables converted from storefront pizza shop selling slices to catholic school kids at lunch! They converted by bringing in 12 or 15 tables when the neighborhood became gentrified. Minimal decor, old tables even older tasting pizza. This was my birthday lunch from my son. Unfortunately it was not a good choice for me. The golden point was my spouse and I cooked the calzone more in the next week and after more cooking the garlic mellowed a little and was more...
