Nasty disgusting waitress with the worst attitude ever. Went with a group of 6 and simply asked is there was a table available for dinner and drinks, she said “NO” and kept walking away from me?! Didn’t tell me how long, or if we would like a seat at the bar for drinks until a table was ready, nothing just “NO”. What a lowlife with no people skills or professionalism. We didn’t even bother waiting for anyone else to come address us, with all the other options in the area, we left to eat, drink and spend our money elsewhere.

Why should customer have to deal with people like this with some many well deserving and appreciative businesses in Bushwick that HAVE qualified respectful staffing. Attention management of Norwind’s, your investing a lot of money expanding your location, you should apply some of that focus into hiring qualified, attentive and pleasant staffing, and get rid of your waitress who pushes people away from business without hesitation. Lastly, if your a “Puerto Rican” owned business that represents your island, how about hiring so actual Puerto Rican’s as staff??? You have a Asian manager, and what ever your nasty waitress is, who definitely is not Puerto Rican. She looks like she crawled out from under a rock, and you picked her up and gave her a job without training her....

I have been in the business for 25+ years and one thing is for certain and two things for sure is that I’ve never walked into a place that I’ve had a dinner party of 11 that had to drink out of cans and plastic cups. Your servers should be putting the drinks in cups in back of the house and serving it to the table. Don’t bring me a can to the table and then say oh do you want a cup or do you want ice? How about a straw? How about you bring my drink in a cup with ice with a straw like other restaurants? Seems very lazy seems like a place that’s cutting cost in the wrong places. Seeing the cans I told everyone let’s just eat dinner no apps. It really does affect a person’s perception. I can understand if it’s a bar and all you do is have come and go people, but if you have groups of six and more, you should have a stash of glasses in the back. And if you’re cutting cost because your staff is breaking the cups…..clip them you are FIRED you should not be working in this field thank you. I have seen a lot of these reviews and I think the ones that praise the food have never really gone elsewhere to eat. Some of the food selections are good and some are OK. Chef needs to tighten up on his meat temperature skills.

Your steps of service is...

If it’s one thing I’m going to do is support a good business! I have been coming here for years & I Don’t even live on that side of town! It is the best Puerto Rican food you will find in Brooklyn and the best Alcapurias ever! Everything is always made to perfection. The shrimp Mofongo is amazing even the garlic Parmesan wings are incredible. The frozen Hennessy sangria is so refreshing and they always make your drinks strong! Best of all is the service! They never disappoint, and now that they have the second side open with the patio, rooftop & TVs to watch sports games with incredible DJs that play a little bit of everything it’s just perfect! One more thing, the manager Jay (JFK) is so welcoming, super friendly, always coming around to make sure that you are good and always accommodating! even the Security at the door, He is always consistent! You can literally get it all on the one roof at Norwinds come to have a good time, unwind, listen to good music, eat great food and vibe out with...

DO NOT GO HERE! I was visiting from out of town with 3 of my other friends. When we arrived, Ana was not welcoming at all and it seemed as if she did not know how to even place an order and on the menu it says that all entrees come with sides unless stated and none of our food came with sides even though there was no “no sides” on our items. Furthermore Ana never came to check on us, did not give more water, and messed up one of my friends orders when he asked for a shrimp empanada they gave him beef. THE FOOD WAS AWFUL I live in Humboldt park which is a staple in Puerto Rican cuisine but this place has no culture. The steak for the jibbarito was as hard as a gym shoe and they had NO GARLIC on the sandwich it self 😭 the alcapurrias were really dry, and the area out back needs to be re cleaned. Also before you come here just know there is a 20% gratuity tax 🤦🏽‍♂️ makes sense why the waitress did not care about her tip.

On Flushing Avenue in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn, lies a Puerto Rican restaurant called Norwinds. Google Maps says it’s a funky Puerto Rican cafe. I guess it could be considered funky, maybe it’s the neighborhood. I decided on the Hiberito sandwich even before I arrived based on a google picture. Instead of bread, they use two broad pieces of fried plantain and put strips of steak with lettuce, tomato and their special sauce in between. Unique and delicious. In the Age of Covid, we ate outside in the new normal of street dining. Melissa was our gracious server who was friendly, patient and efficient. We now have a new go-to spot in Bushwick.
