The location is good, the ambiance and vibe of the restaurant is better, however.. The service and experience was not worth the wait or cost. We Waited for our reserved seats, ( during that time we attempted to get a glass of wine at the bar to kill time, but the bartender did not once acknowledge us or anyone at the bar for that matter.) once seated we then waited about 15 minutes ( no exxageration) for anyone to approach us and even ask if we wanted water. The next issue is we couldn't even tell who was a hostess , waiter, server or the manager. ( we had different people attend our table the entire time ) Waited another10 minutes for bread and to be asked if we were ready to order. Then they ran out of the octopus which was a bummer, but later in the evening when a waiter was taking orders from the couple next to us they had even less to offer them as we overheard " we ran out of that also" a few times ( felt bad for that couple) . The soup was terrible, the oysters were a bit greasy but decent, the lamb shank was very good, however the Lobster ...someone should be put in jail for how little meat and unsettling taste it came with..not to mention no proper utensils to properly break open claws just a big steak knife. My partner couldn't even finish with the mess and smell. We had to ask for it to be taken away. It was obvious the restaurant had issues .. an employee (who seemed to possibly be a manager or owner) knew to voluntarily come over and say " I do apologize for everything this evening. We didn't expect everyone to show up at the same time." I simply said thanks and smiled ..however what kind of excuse is "We didnt expect everyone to show up at the same time to a couple who had a reservation"?? unfortunate and bad experience I do not recommend for the price of dinner we could have gone and had way better quality, service , portions. I DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Recently came to Tabaré for dinner and loved it so much that I came back the next day for brunch as well! The atmosphere is excellent - cozy and modern vibes. Great lighting, decor, etc. Bar seating is really nice as well. Food - most everything was very good. Empanadas, filet sandwich, fries, scrambled eggs, and chicken cutlet were all delicious! The two exceptions were the coffee (both hot and iced were very bad) and one cocktail that tasted very watered down and flavorless. Service here is mostly good, though some inattentive staff can make you wait around for longer than your hoped. What caught me here was some inaccurate/inconsistent pricing. The menu online reflects different prices than the in-restaurant menu. Not by much, but enough to notice. Too, the sign outside the restaurant advertises a $20 brunch (main dish, one drink, coffee/tea), but the menu offers a $8 brunch add on to any main dish price. So most brunch options will be above $20 (some significantly), despite being advertised as such. Overall, a great experience. Would definitely go back (and am interested in trying the Williamsburg location).

Was charged $11 for double meat on a $17 sandwich and the meat was thinner than the bacon. This use to be my favorite restaurant, to the point where I would come here (og location) about 3x week. Ever since they opened this location the quality has been on the decline. Even though I moved out of NY, I still come here every time I’m in town. Last month I took my boyfriend to the original location after talking highly about it for weeks, he asked for a ribeye MR and got WD. I had the Chivito with double meat and it was packed with meat for $6 extra. I convinced him to try the new location since ownership puts more work into this one. We both asked for Chivitos with double meat and after the server asked the kitchen if they would do it, he came back and said it would be $10 extra but never said if it would be $10 for both or each. I got my sandwich and pretty much paid for bread. You couldn’t taste any of the fillings let alone the meat. We got the check and saw $11 extra per sandwich. Had I known I would be getting bread for $28 I would’ve ordered something else. It’s not about the price, it’s the principle.

Food was great, service was poor. I had ordered a glass of wine that I really wasn't happy with. With only one sip taken, I asked if I could switch it for another wine. The bartender happily switched it out for me, taking away the wine I didn't like and replacing it with my new choice. Later, my dining partner accidentally knocked over the new, full glass. After the waitstaff helped to clean up the spill, the empty glass was removed and I was never offered another one. After waiting for awhile and having to eat half of my steak without a beverage, we had to flag the waitress down to order another one. When the bill was dropped, we were expected to pay for all three glasses of wine, when I had only consumed one. I expressed to the manager that I wish I had been told that I was not able to switch the first glass for free (especially since the bartender had removed the full glass from our table and disposed of it). In the end, one glass was taken off of the bill, but I still had to pay for the spilled glass of wine. As a restaurant professional myself, I never worked for a restaurant that does not replace a spilled drink free of charge as a sign of hospitality. The average markup for wine in restaurants is 200-300 per cent above retail, so it really doesn't cost them much...at least not nearly as much as resulting in the customer have a poor experience, at least in my opinion. I guess the moral of the story is that probably less than $2.00 worth of wine (their cost) has now resulted in lost future business from myself, bad word of mouth, and this subsequent bad review. We just wanted to have a good time. Unfortunately, we accidentally spilled a glass of...

Thank you to Chef Alejandor, our server Jovany and Rachel the host.

Big thanks to my friend Claudia for putting me on to this spot. She's from Uruguayand said I had to try this spo

Dessert -Flan was perfect. -Alfajor rustico: Layers of crisp homemade cookies, dulce de leche, chocolate ganache, sea salt caramelized walnuts. Not in the traditional manner but a unique take on it. -Torta de chocolate negro (Flourless dark chocolate cake, berries) We liked this. Not a berry fan w chocolate but this works.
