The food was good, But the waitress who 1st waited on us TERRIBLE. My children took me out for dessert on Christmas day. They paid the tab. As we were still sitting sipping on coffee she approached me asking about a tip. I was confused as to what she was asking, since I didn't pay. I told her thats not my card its my kids card. She then continued to ask me again and I repeated what I said prior, she went to my kids and ask the same question. My kids said no we are not putting the tip on the card. She went back to the register and started to stare at us while she spoke to our 2nd waitress to complain about the tip. My daughter overheard the conversation. The 2nd waitress was not too concerned. My daughter told me what she overheard. I was angered not only because of said tip that she was asking for and clearly didn't deserve but for the treatment we received. The customer next to us arrived after us and got their food before us and was treated attentively by her. Mean while we only had one dish and coffee with no spoons or sugar I ask for them again and still no spoons. I used a butter knife to stir my coffee as she was taking too long and never brought it. We were the only Hispanic party at the Restraunt and felt racially profiled. Anyway another waitress ended up waiting on us I don't know why the change, but we were happy with her service. We put our coats on I approached the waitress I told her how dare she ask for a tip while we were still clearly not done! Not everyone leaves a tip on the card. My kids took me out for dessert I was leaving the tip not them. I then told her I will not be leaving her a tip I will be given the tip to the 2nd waitress. What she did was disgusting and unprofessional I use to be a waitress when I was younger and that is something you just don't do. The 2nd waitress apologized then hugged me and wished me a Merry Christmas . I left her a $25 tip on a $100 tab and ask not to share with other waitress. I'm sure the party next to us didn't leave her a big tip but assumed since we were Hispanic that we weren't...

Here's a review you could use: A Sweet and Savory Escape at Omonia Cafe Omonia Cafe in Astoria is a delightful spot that truly hits all the right notes, whether you're in the mood for a full meal or just a sweet treat. During my visit, I had the Greek salad with chicken, and it was fantastic—fresh, crisp, and generously portioned. The grilled chicken was perfectly cooked and seasoned, making for a satisfying lunch. But the real star of the show at Omonia is their dessert selection. Everything is made on the premises, and the quality is obvious from the first bite. The display case is a work of art, filled with beautiful cakes, pastries, and traditional Greek sweets. It's tough to choose just one, but you can't go wrong. What makes the experience even better is the staff. They are incredibly nice and inviting, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in. Their hospitality and helpful recommendations truly elevate the visit. Overall, Omonia Cafe is a must-visit in Astoria. It's the perfect place to enjoy delicious food, incredible house-made desserts, and...
Read moreI'm actually very utterly disgusted by the level of service that I received (if you can even say I received any service??) when I walked in last night, Friday.
The business has their hours posted as being open until 3:00am, however it doesn't seem they respect it one bit. I walked in at 2:40am looking to purchase something along the lines of cake, with no intentions of sitting to eat because they were 20mins from closing. There was no host or waiter or any staff member to be found. I knocked on a door adjacent to the counter and to no avail. Ten minutes elapsed until someone finally appeared. He began to ask me what was I doing here, because they're closed. I said "You guys are open until 3:00am on the door", he said "Well we're closed now." I asked to speak to a manager and he said "Sorry, but they are sleeping." At this point I tried to plead with the gentleman to just sell me the slice of cake and he said the computer is shut down and he doesn't know prices. It was at this point where I realized the staff here were more interested in going home than honoring the hours they publicize to serve the patrons to their business.
After such a poor experience here, I cannot see myself supporting this...
