My family and I are huge fans of Thai food. One More Charm has been on our radar for some time now. We are extremely fortunate to have been able to go there earlier today. This is a hidden gem in Brooklyn!!! The restaurant is very cozy, calm and gives a very nice home like vibe. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. The place is very clean and hand sanitizer is readily available. We ordered the BBC Tea, Thai Iced Tea with bubbles, Thai Fish Cake, Steamed Dumplings (ground pork, shrimp, snow peas), Chicken Pad Thai and Spicy Chicken Basil.
Both drinks were delectable. I feel like the BBC Tea is extremely unique due to the addition of the cream brulee and brown sugar bubble. This drink is extremely addicting. I want another one as we speak lol. Both drinks weren't too sweet, just right. The Thai Fish Cakes didn't have a strong fish taste as I expected, but that's a good thing. I've had fish cakes from other places and the ones sold here are in a league of it's own (yes, in a good way). I have to thank our server for recommending this appetizer. The Steamed Dumpling, Tom Kha with shrimp, Spicy Chicken Basil were tasty and kept you wanting more.
The Chicken Pad Thai has a different take on the classic Pad Thai that I'm used to. The Chicken was juicy along with the noodles. There was added citrus in this dish which takes Pad Thai to a different level.
My family and I are getting spoiled at One More Charm. We will be going back. The staff said they will be adding more offerings to their menu. I'm looking forward to returning and trying these offerings. Can't wait to see what the future holds for this place because it's simply amazing. I highly recommend this...
Read moreTotally mediocre food, you deserve better thai than this.
Went to deli next door afterwards to get a banana, the portions left me starving.
Edit: answering to the owner's question.
The portion part don't take as a criticism – if the food is only a spoonful but manages to get me closer to culinary heaven then that's fine.
I take food passionately and seriously. Basically. It's to do with the combination of the presentation, the ingredients, the taste and the texture of the food.
I ate fish cakes and pad thai with tofu and roti bread. It was evening of 19 November 2023.
The presentation lacked effort. I'm all about minimalism, but come on! If you serve the measly fish cakes on a green leaf with a sweet and sour sauce straight from some cheap bottle, I get jitters already – I can smell the vinegary laziness a mile a way. The Pad Thai I would describe simply as grey, the soy bean sprouts didn't really enliven the experience. The statement, people eat with their eyes exist for a reason.
Pad Thai - It had too much of what I suspect is oyster sauce, it completely kills every other taste. It's overwhelming. The tofu was the kind which you soak in water, it isn't the fresh type. There wasn't simply enough sauce, which made the noodles stick to each other. The soy beans lived their own sad existence on the plate.
The fish cakes were okay. The chewiness was a nice surprise, but other than that, quite forgettable, especially for 9 dollars. The roti bread was probably the best bite, nice, crunchy, but could've been less oily.
The food was loveless but to end on a positive note, the service was nice, sweet and friendly and made me more...
Read moreMy friend and I came to One More Charm on a Monday around 5:30pm. I picked it for my birthday dinner because of the rave reviews. I then returned the following day for lunch around 1pm with another friend who was craving Thai. The interior is small, but it is well decorated and the ambiance is classy.
For dinner, I got the massaman curry with chicken ($16), and my friend got the pad se-ew with pork ($16). Everything was flavored well, and the curry had a good serving of chicken. For lunch the following day, my friend and I got the lunch specials of pad thai and pad se-ew with chicken ($14.95/each). The lunch special comes with a salad with a ginger dressing and an appetizer. I highly recommend the chive pancake, it was VERY tasty! I took off a star because the chicken in my pad se-ew was dry, and the pad thai did not have a good balance between noodles and other stuff, as it was noodle heavy. The sauce on the pad thai was lacking something, but I cannot put my finger on it.
Service was excellent for both lunch and dinner, but was definitely better during lunch. We had multiple check-backs and our waters were consistently refilled. Overall, I enjoy the food here and can see myself being a regular. The prices are a bit high but competitive with other restaurants...
