Panepinto Bakery — Restaurant in New York

I hate giving Panepinto a 1 star rating because I truly used to love it there and was a regular customer. However, I felt the need to give a negative review as I feel that Panepinto has gotten exceptionally greedy with their prices, especially given no change/downgrade in the quality of their food. Ever since the recent egg shortage and them changing their inside seating to include new (worse) tables and booths, they had a significant price increase across the menu. All egg platters now come with 2 instead of 3 eggs, with price increases. Soups used to be $6.95 and now they are $9.95, I can go on but believe me almost everything on the menu has gone up. They also have been sneakily adding up-charges without clearly stating it on their menu. Some examples I have recently had: I ordered waffles states as $13.50 on the menu, and it said it comes with a choice of one side. I got strawberries and on my bill the waffles were labeled as $14.50 and then another dollar for the strawberries making it $15.50. So if you want to charge this way, state it on your menu!! my boyfriend and I ended up spending almost $60 with tip for breakfast getting the waffles a breakfast burrito, tap water and one iced coffee. Absolutely ridiculous. I always order an omelette with spinach cheese and tomatoes, and the menu clearly states that it comes with toast on the side and there are options for toast. I got white sourdough and my bill stated a dollar extra and they told me it was an up-charge for sourdough, when that additional charge wasn’t stated anywhere on the menu. Not to mention they forget 1/3 of the inclusions I ask for about half the time, super frustrating. my mom got 6 rainbow cookies, 2 cannolis, two small pieces of crumb cake, and 4 jelly cookies and it came out to $75 and everything was stale! Overpriced and poor quality. they are missing #2 from their menu in the egg section, the menu goes from #1 to #3 and doesn’t clearly state the amount of eggs you will be getting since they changed it to now be less.

I have a lot of family and friends that are frequent customers of Panepinto and we will all not be coming around as often. You can probably tell that I go here often since I know their menu so well, but I’m sad to say they have lost a loyal customer, Middle Village deserves better than to be ripped off by a local bakery that operates right across from OLH. I am so dissatisfied with your service. I ordered a cake over phone at your Bakery Shop, which is NYC Birthday cake. After I ordered my wife’s birthday cake over phone with Sabrina, by using my credit card, I received a transaction receipt at my phone that Payment has been made at Panepinto bakery. I didn’t ask for any other bakery to bake the cake for my wife as I chooses NYC Birthday cake Shop. If you can’t do it then why the heck you’re taking orders from people like us? I wouldn’t have mind if the taste of the cake was good. Sadly The cake taste aweful. I am extremely disappointed. I have spent 180$ for this 8” cake. I didn’t hesitated for a second spending that amount for a small cake since it’s about my wife’s birthday. And Mr. Joseph, your advise over the cake flavor just made me dissatisfied sorry to say. Never ordering anything from here again. Last year I bought a cake for 40$ on my wife’s birthday, and the cake was 100 times better than yours. I paid 180$ for 4 layers of frost cream. This year I wanted to give her something special, and you people successfully ruined her cake by making it the worst cake that cost 180$. Even the local bakery shop bakes better cake than you people. I usually don't write reviews but I had to. Food was disgusting, only their cake pops were good. I purchased a 200 dollar cake. once I went in to get the cake I ordered, the icing was melted. I asked them to make another one and they said " no we can't, we wasted a lot of icing and we don't have more." so it was really hot in there. I heard someone ask them to make the ac lower caused it was on 75. they said " no." So the next day I go in to get the 2nd cake I ordered, the icing was melted again. I said why and I got really mad, they said " our ac is broken." if it is broken then you should close. I said " oh, can I speak to a manager. they said " manager is sick today we dont have another manager. so I asked for a refund and they said you need proof of purchase. I showed them and they said " oh, u bought it 1 month ago, you received your cake." I got really mad. and the prices are INSANE.
