4.5 stars. While I was exiting the Steinway Street subway station the other day, I noticed a new bakery had opened up on 34th avenue. There is another Paris Bakery located just a few blocks away on 30th Avenue so this would be their second location in Astoria.
Just like the other location, they serve various baked goods (tarts, cakes, croissants, etc.), hot and cold beverages, sandwiches, fruit cups and gelato. The shop is super cute, very clean and has a great laid-back atmosphere. They have a fairly big set up in front of the bakery for outdoor seating.
I ordered a few items on my first visit and was so impressed. Strangely though, they do not have a menu posted anywhere on the premises and most of the items in the cases did not have a label. So, there was a lot of questions and finger pointing (at the items) when I ordered. I got an almond tart, a raspberry fruit tart, a Snickers chocolate dessert bar, and what looked like a Ferrero Rocher chocolate dessert thingy.
The desserts were each $4.50 which was a bargain in my opinion. The almond tart was a tad bit on the dry side but was so great with coffee. The raspberry fruit tart was wonderfully fresh, the crust buttery and flaky, and the cream filling smooth. The Snickers chocolate dessert bar was shaped like a popsicle but was actually a slice of cake with chocolate cream and nuts. It was sooooo good. The Ferrero Rocher chocolate dessert was my favorite. I was expecting this one to be super sweet, but it wasn’t. It was made with both dark and milk chocolate, and had pieces of hazelnuts, and topped with a thick cracker and a Ferrero Rocher chocolate. Absolutely heavenly!

Read moreI have been to this place before and I have liked it until today that I was not satisfied. They charge for a spoon of almond milk in the coffee. $1 is not making me rich or poor. The problem was when I noticed that instead of keeping a routine customer , they simply ignored and the gentleman asked the barista to put regular milk without asking me if I was ok. There is a reason I am asking almond instead of milk and he should know or be more mindful. I am still satisfied with the atmosphere but because of the bad service this place deserves only one star today. I will try again and have my friends try and pay attention to these details. Well, thisI may edit my review, or they may get good or more bad...
