I had breakfast there and I must say the food exceeded my expectations. I had porota, ruti, alu-begun vaji, buter daal, kala vuna, labra, and later added okra vaji and rice with musur dal. All of the foods were above average.
The breads were not heated up frozen affairs. The dough was made in-house and the taste was testimony itself. The porota was crispy and salted just the right amount.
The vaji was moist and slightly caramelised, giving it the sweetness and nutty flavor one expects.
Kala vuna beef was unusually tender and flavorful.
The okra vaji was very tender and still held the color.
But regrettably the buter dal was bland. I didn't finish it.
They served us payes on the house. It was adequate.
The place was clean. However, a drafty door chilled us to the bone and the heaters inside were inadequate.
Service was spotty. Evidently the wait staff was not well trained. He forgot to give us glasses and napkins and seemed to provide service begrudgingly.
All in all, I'll have no hesitations to go back or recommend it highly.

Read moreI have been coming to this restaurant for the past 10 years and never had any issues with the food, or service. However today (June 2nd, 2023), I was treated with careless and very shameful manners by the servers. After waiting for a long time for someone to take our order, they served us half plates and said its a full plate. This is a new scam they started doing now. They also forgot to give us utensils until we got up and asked for them. Food presentation was really bad as they tried to spread the food to make it look full. Salad was probably a day or two old. The servers had an attitude every time we wanted to order something. I wouldn't be coming to this restaurant again and I suggest others to do the same. Their Price is really high compared to the amount of food they serve with disgraceful service. Neighboring restaurant's are doing a...
Read moreGreat location in the heart of Bronx markets. Lots of walk-in traffic. Great variety of authentic food, desserts & snacks.
Staff is friendly & caring but can have better communication skills.
Absolutely no parking in this neighborhood and walking/ drop off works probably best.
The food is nicely displayed in traditional way. Biryani is made in Mustard Oil that gives enhanced flavors. Biryani is made in Kala Jeera rice that's a short grain rice being a smaller version of Basmati Rice.
Their ba y goat Biryani is made in regular Basmati rice & has giid presentation.
The place offers take out service as well. They should offer a larger family seating area to take it to...
