This place has been disappointing for a while, but I gave it another shot. I came in last night for a few reasons: I’d been wanting to order from here for over a week, but the online menu was incomplete — missing core items I’ve ordered before. Sure, I could’ve called or used a delivery app, but I prefer to support businesses directly. The inconsistency across their menus (website, delivery apps, and in-store) was already frustrating, so I ended up eating elsewhere last week.
Last night, I came in to hopefully place an order, let them know about the broken menu, and ask about a discount I received by email — which I couldn’t use online because I couldn’t access the full menu.
I spoke to two employees. I’ve eaten here before, but stopped because their chicken tikka masala barely has any chicken (and what little there is, is dry despite being drenched in sauce). It’s also overpriced. No matter how many times I asked for tamarind sauce or both sauces, I’d always get the green one — or they’d just do what they wanted. Still, I was craving Indian food and gave them another try.
Right away, the energy was off. I’ve been here before and felt ignored — unless I was alone, being flirted with, or given free tea. This time, I came with my partner, and the vibe was completely different: cold, curt, and smug.
I explained and showed them how the menu is incomplete. I asked, “How can I order something if I don’t even know it exists?” There’s no full menu anywhere. The guy nodded and said, “I know what you mean.” When we asked about the discount I got that same day (around 4:19 p.m.), he asked to see it and said it was only for one item — a veggie wrap. Then he called over another employee, who checked and claimed it had already expired. That was false — the email clearly said it was valid for 3 days. Then the excuse became: “It only applies to items showing up on the online menu.”
But that’s exactly the issue — we couldn’t see the full menu. Every QR code in the store led to the same limited list: appetizers, biryani, naan, desserts, and drinks. No entrées. No wings. No tandoori dishes. No curry specials.
To prove it, I scanned every single QR code in the store — same result every time. The only physical menu I found was a faded, dusty vegan menu from another business, taped to their drink machine. He then pulled out his phone to smugly show his version of the menu, which had everything — and said my phone must be broken. I pointed out that of course he could see everything — he’s logged in as a business owner or admin. That’s common sense. Still, no resolution. No accountability. Just condescension and gaslighting.
I understand how websites work. I’ve worked on coding and user experience. I was genuinely trying to help improve their accessibility — and instead I was dismissed and disrespected.
It became painfully clear they didn’t want my business. The interaction felt intentionally unwelcoming. And while I understand language or cultural differences can sometimes cause friction, this was beyond that. I was treated differently — deliberately — especially compared to previous visits. When I came alone, there were fake smiles, free stuff, and inappropriate friendliness. But when I came with my partner, the energy shifted completely — rude, cold, and unpleasant.
I left feeling disrespected and discriminated against — for my gender, race, ethnicity, and sexuality.
And to top it all off, the food I saw behind the counter looked dry, old, and discolored. So thank you, honestly, for saving me the money — even if you couldn’t save me the aggravation.
I hope this business learns to actually listen to customers instead of brushing them off. But I won’t be back. And I don’t care to hear a reply — if it’s anything like how I was treated in-store, I already know you’re not listening...
Read moreIf you are craving authentic Indian flavors in the Bronx, Tandoori Place is an absolute must-visit! I Just had the pleasure of dining here, and I can confidently say it was one of the best Indian food experiences I have ever had. The food was top-notch.
Let’s start with great recommendations from Rafi and Saad, the Tandoori Chicken. It was perfectly marinated, smoky, and juicy, with that signature charred flavor from the tandoor. The Tandoor Wings were equally impressive, packed with bold spices and cooked to perfection. Each bite was a burst of flavor that left me wanting more.
On the vegetarian side, the Gobhi Masala and Channa Masala were outstanding. The cauliflower in the Gobhi Masala was tender and coated in a rich, spiced gravy, while the Channa Masala had the perfect balance of tangy and savory flavors. The Aloo Keema Mutter was a delightful surprise spiced minced potatoes and peas cooked to perfection, making it a hearty and comforting dish.
Of course, no Indian meal is complete without bread, and the Naan and Rumali Roti were exceptional. The naan was soft and fluffy, while the rumali roti was thin, delicate, and perfect for scooping up all those delicious gravies.
To top it all off, we ended our meal with chai and it was the perfect finishing touch. The chai was perfectly spiced, and had that comforting warmth that only a well-made cup of Indian tea can provide. It was the ideal way to wrap up such a flavorful meal.
The taste of every dish was simply outstanding authentic, flavorful, and made with so much care. I can’t recommend Tandoori Place enough. Whether you're a fan of meat or vegetarian dishes, this place has something for everyone. If you haven’t tried it yet, you’re missing out on one of the best Indian food experiences in the Bronx. I’ll definitely be...
Read moreI really liked the food here. I thought the lunch special was extremely affordable and came with a substantial amount of food. I ordered the chicken tikka masala, which comes with rice, a side vegetable dish, and a large piece of naan. The vegetables were good, and the tikka masala sauce was delicious (though the chicken was a overcooked) the naan is so fluffy and nice. I also got the vegetable samosa (really good!) and the chai tea. The chai came sweetened with honey, which I enjoyed, but if you don’t like sweet chai or the taste of honey, make sure to let them know. I additionally ordered the Nutella stuffed naan, which was pretty good. Overall, I think this place has a good, affordable ($8.95) and tasty lunch special. And by the way, if you order from them, try to do it on their own website. You need a minimum of $15 for delivery, but the prices of the items are actually cheaper on their website than they are on seamless, so you can potentially get more bang for your buck if you just order your...
