Review for Raja foods in Jackson heights I have been going to raja foods for 2/3 months off n on. I am Punjabi. Initially I liked the food as they cook Punjabi dishes. 1- Food is good not the greatest. I am a vegetarian but as I gone there for a while I tried many vegetarian entree. Not all dishes are tasty only some are good. So it’s a hit or Miss. One time I tried paneer makhni it was so bad No taste I had to throw it all away 2- one time I got the saag paneer which was hard as rock from inside outside good but inside not heated all the way thru. I think they prepare dishes before n heat up in the microwave as customers order. Warning never order Okra here. It was the worst in the world. No taste and too salty. It was gone in trash. Looks like someone poured salt with eyes closed. They dont want to listen to complaints only they are there to collect money. Also the ladies n 2 men who take orders are full of attitude. They feel they are doing you a favor by serving food as if they monopolize. I am done with them. They have to learn to respect their customers. Their business depends on customers. 3- only paranthas are cooked fresh. 4- Next door Dosa delight has very high quality food. It’s not only for dosa they have the best vegetarian entrees 5- This place is always rushed as there is a long line n also they move at a snail’s pace. You have to stand patiently for few hours without complaining. The minute you complain the owner sardarji gives you a big attitude n start an argument. 6- there are 6/7 tables next to each other. First it’s a hassle to get a table. As you are in the line forever. Pls never take the front tables by the entrance 2 doors as constantly people are in and out. So lot of breeze gets in n all napkins even can fly away n fall on the floor. Very messy!!! But then if you in the back tables there is the dirtiest bathroom in the back so people are in and out of bathroom. In other words Zero Peace. Also screaming children ruin the experience of eating. It’s like a school canteen. I would highly recommend Dosa Delight. Very clean, organized n 5/10 max wait to get a table. Nobody rushes you around during your mealtime. I am beyond disappointed at Raja. They can keep their attitude for people who don’t mind disrespected n have full day to stand in lines Learn to respect your customers. They...
Read moreThis is the WORST RESTAURANT in Queens especially in terma of service. It's crazy to think I've been going here for years, tolerating the owner/ cashier's attitude all the time, only because it's one of the few veg restaurants in the area. But no more. As others have pointed out the service is really bad, and today was the last straw. So the owner, who also takes the orders, tried to imply that I was asking for too much when I asked for chatni and yogurt. I ask for these things all the time, they come free with the order and they never said anything that indicated the contrary before. But this time when I asked if he could give me a yogurt he said "the yogurt is a dollar man." Excuse me?? But he never said that before. Apparently, he just suddenly came up with it. I've literally been going there for 8 years and he never once gave that response and yet now he acted like this was the case the whole time! and in a tone that suggested I was asking for a freebee. No way. I'd happily pay the extra dollar if he had made that clear before or put it on the menu, which it's not there. It's not the about the money but the disrespect. The suggestion that I was asking for too much! Then he had the nerve to say 'I'll give it to you this time.' No, you don't get to talk to me like that. I didn't accept his offer. Just left, without making a fuss, but without accepting to be treated like I was asking for free food. The nerve. Never going back there.
Also, as for the food, it is mostly bland. Only a few good options, but the rest is watered down and often stale. They don't hesitate to sell old, stale, hardening sweets meant for the trash, either. Really isn't worth it. There's another veg restaurant not too far from there, and the other Desi restaurants in the area do offer veg options on their menu as well. There's no more reason to go to this place. Stay clear if you're looking for fresh food and want to actually be treated...
