We went to Dhaka Garden twice so far. The first time around we got the kachi biryani because the employee told us the chicken biryani wasn’t good that day. The kachi biryani costs more than the chicken biryani but we did not think anything of it as we believed he was trying to enhance our experience. We also got chicken tikka and a mango lassi. The food was good and we decided to return a second time with our dad. This time the employee said the chicken biryani is good so we got that as well as chicken tikka, fish, and mixed vegetable fried rice.
The “salad” that came with it was basically gross lettuce, dried up lime slices, and sliced onion. I’m not sure if the lettuce was even washed or not but it definitely wasn’t fresh and looked unappetizing. The utensils were not washed properly either. I was starting to wonder if I should have even come here considering the aforementioned. The biryani had hard clumps of rice, which I’m assuming may have been from the bottom of the pot.
It was really hot inside too. They just had a standing fan running which was not enough to cool the store down. The employees (I’m not sure if they are the owners but one woman with the henna hair and one man) are very pushy, so perhaps they own the place. They are always asking if we would like lassi or this or that or the other. It’s not like it’s on the house to make up for the fact that they don’t have an item in stock. Instead, they just keep pushing hoping you’ll purchase more and more. They also stand right by your table and watch you as you eat, which is super awkward and annoying.
We dined in and also took an order to go. When it was time to pay, I saw that there was an extra 15% charge which I didn’t experience the first time I visited. Usually, restaurants will charge a gratuity fee if you come in a group of 5+. We were only 3 people. Furthermore, there was no sign posted nor was the menu edited to reflect their new haphazard policy. I asked her when they started charging an extra 15%, and she had no response.
The 15% should not be mandatory unless they have a policy that is clearly outlined. Some people may want to tip more than 15%, and some may want to give less. After tonight’s experience, we...
Read moreI had the pleasure of dining at Dhaka Garden Restaurant in Jackson Heights, New York, and it was an exceptional experience! This gem of a restaurant offers a delectable range of halal authentic Bangladeshi, Indian, and Pakistani cuisine that is sure to satisfy any food lover's cravings.
The Beef Tehari, Goat Biryani, and the famous Hazi Biryani are absolute must-tries. However, my personal favorite has to be their Morog Polaw – the aromatic rice and slow-cooked chicken create a heavenly combination of flavors that's simply irresistible.
And let's not forget their mouthwatering desserts! The sweet curd is a delightful way to end your meal on a sweet note.
What makes Dhaka Garden even more appealing is their convenience. They offer delivery, pick-up, and dine-in options, making it easy to enjoy their delicious dishes no matter your preference. While parking can be a challenge in the area, the restaurant is easily accessible via public transportation.
Overall, Dhaka Garden Restaurant is a culinary treasure in Jackson Heights, offering a taste of authentic South Asian cuisine that's sure to leave you coming back for more. Highly...
