Prefacing the quality of their product especially matcha is great and I love their staff, always kind and thoughtful. I started coming to this business since day 1 and supported them since my daughter goes to daycare next door. My recent encounter with management, however, was incredibly frustrating and unpleasant. They have a point system that offers up a free drink after a certain point. I got a notification to redeem on my phone that explicitly said im due for one. When approaching the manager, I was met with complete dismissal and was told the points had changed while the system didn’t reflect it. When you make a mistake, you own it and honor the customer. I paid for my drink anyway. While finishing my drink I also overheard a conversation between the manager and her staff which took place in open space in the form of a disagreement and the tone in which the staff was spoken to was incredibly condescending. This did not sit well with me. I approached the manager to give her real time feedback and was interrupted multiple times before I could finish my sentences, received no apology, and ultimately she became defensive. The conversation was going to determine the outcome of my loyalty and her lack of professionalism towards her customers and her staff made me decide that was my last visit. Disappointed to say the least. Another New York story of great employees, bad management and they just...
Read moreI stopped in around 2pm and they seemed to have most items in stock. (No pistachio.) I tried the burra croissant which was super super yummy for sure. Burrata and basil so it’s a fresh tasting pastry for sure — kind of like pesto on airy bread. I also had an almond croissant which was very passable to my standards, which are high for almond croissants. This one is rectangular with 4 crispy edges. The almond paste is delivered through a cut in the bottom, so it falls apart a little while eating, but to be fair I was eating it so so so so slow.
I took these items to go but it seemed like a decent enough energy inside with a half wall between the barista area and the bulk the seating. The seating area was fairly full of people working but had a table or two available. I would come back to try the drinks and have another pastry sometime in the future. And I would probably have one of the same pastries, depending on whether I as craving dessert or appetizer vibe.
Be aware that burra croissant is NOT recommended as a to go item. Kind of a mess. Also note the burra croissant is fairly salty, but I don’t like salty very much compared to others in my life. The almond croissant is (mostly) perfect on the go, just flip it upside down for when the cut open bottom starts to loosen.
Very...
Read moreMy son and I popped in the other morning just as they were opening and got a latte, turkey/cheese/rosemary focaccia sandwich, and strawberry bombolone. It was so nice! The cafe is clean and cozy, and Jeremy was incredibly welcoming and helpful. My little foodie son is obsessed with bombolone and he said this is the best one he’s ever had - better than the San Gennaro Feast, better than in Rome. If I still lived in the neighborhood, this would be my perfect camp out and work for a...
