Consulate General of the I. R. of Afghanistan in New York — Local services in New York

It’s a shame to say but literally going to this place is one of my worst nightmare . The staff are all uneducated people who doesn’t have any respect for their fellow Afghans. When you go talk to them they talk down to you as if they own the country of Afghanistan. If you are not from the northern part of afghanistan automatically you are Pakistani to them. It’s a really shame to have people like these staff representing our country’s name. The run around they give you is ridiculous and all for nothing. Honestly sometimes I feel like they want bribe to get you job done fast. If you don’t give them money they would give you the run around just like the Pakistani government offices. To me it seems like the people who works in the embassy of Afghanistan they belong...

I am editing my comment below after receiving my passports in timely fashion. Everything went very smooth and this was one of the best services I ever received from an Afghan Agency.

So far, they have been very responsive to all calls we have made.

Some people in the US complain that they are not responsive on calls; they should have called at the right time. Lets say some one in Texas call them after 2PM their time which is already 3PM in NY and consulate does not work after 3PM. Instead of blaming their own not to have tried at a right time, they start complaining.

I went there from Virginia because I had an emergency and needed the passport before my immigration appointment. My mom is ill in Afghanistan and I needed to go to take her to India. They gave me a hard time then asked for proof. I provided the proof and they said they will send it to me on Thursday that week as it is an emergency case. It’s Monday after the Thursday they promised.they didn’t send my passport on Wednesday I have an immigration appointment which I will not be able to get extension and visit my mom because of these people.
