decent basic pizza served at this corner pizzeria. clean interior with vintage pizza shop vibes from the 80s—Formica tables plus a worn-out payphone on the wall! variety of pies and calzone / rolls on display. ordered a regular slice—heated up and served hot and crispy…cheese dominates on the thin-ish crust but not much sauce flavor though. service is friendly and fast. very much a neighborhood spot filled with residents and nostalgia than pizza of my dreams.

Recommended! Conveniently located at the corner and right above the subway stop. A great NYC pizza slice place with clean seating inside. I got a slice of pepperoni, solid, and excellent garlic knots... I could've eaten a million of them. I love supporting the simple local joints like these, esp when the food and staff are friendly.

Any time I have Sal's pizza, I'm never disappointed! The sauce on the pizza is delicious and it always has that crunchy NY style dough like I like it! I love Sal's pizza! The staff is polite, respectful, and accommodating. After getting two slices, I bought a whole pie to take home to my family!

I decided to start with a plain slice of cheese ($2.50) which was merely OK. Crust is bland, pretty flavorless, and it could've used a little more sauce. Good amount of cheese of sufficient quality but not flavorful enough to makeup for the crust & sauce. Slices with toppings looked better so I'll try one another day (but those are ~$3-4 and I can't imagine them being good enough to justify that). As-is though, this place's regular slice is on par or worse than any of the 99¢/slice places around the city. But it's 2.5x the price.

Also tried the Sausage Roll which seemed like it would be similar to a calzone, it was stuffed with less sausage than hoped (which appeared to just be bland cut up bratwurst) as well as cheese, green peppers, and onions (i hate peppers and onions so that was a bummer). No sauce though, making the whole thing a dry & bland disappointment. Even like a tablespoon of sauce would have made it at least twice as good, or some sauce to dip it in. Instead it was just mostly cheesey bread.

Consider this place only as a last resort imo, but they aren't even open late so I don't see how I'd end up back here despite it being the closest pizza place to my home. Honestly, 2 stars is generous

Actually, now that I think about it, I don't even know why I gave it a second star. This was one of the most disappointing pizza experiences I've had in New York...

This is the first review I have ever left. I'm pretty forgiving, but I can't believe this place has the high average it has. Everything is completely tasteless. I have tried them a few times over 32 years, always hoping that if enough years have gone by different cooks/employees will make an improvement. But I'm always disappointed. The pizza slices, no matter what flavor, the sauces, the calzones, the hot dishes, even the garlic knots are completely tasteless. This place always shows very little care for their product. And you can't even get a choice of toppings anymore. This is the last time I give this place a chance. Do yourselves a favor and don't bother either. The people leaving favorable reviews must have no idea what decent pizzeria food should taste like. Mind you, I don't even mean anything special or fancy in any way, just decent. Their food can not even be called decent, it's completely bland. I feel sorry for any employee there that has ever tried to do better and the bosses won't let them. What other explanation can there be? They take advantage and underachieve because this is the only pizzeria in the immediate area, and IT IS taking advantage, serving their subpar products with how expensive food is nowadays. Walk to Knickerbocker Ave and look for a...

Such mediocre pizza. No idea how the average rating is so high.

Went a couple of times over the last few years, decided to give it one more chance today. Got a cheese pie. Cheese is bland, sauce is also bland and there's not enough of it, and the bread is really tough and leathery- have to tear it apart with your teeth.

Two stars is probably being generous. A shame because it's in such a convenient location by the Dekalb L stop. Won't be coming back, will continue to walk the extra few minutes to get a better pizza from literally...
