I had high hopes for this place, but after two visits, I will not be returning. Both times I went for happy hour. The big issue was the service. On my first visit, the server asked if she could give us a free shot in exchange for a cigarette. That was highly unprofessional. On my second visit, we sat at the bar for 15 minutes before anyone even spoke to us. Once we were finally acknowledged, we ordered the happy hour white wine (grĂĽner veltliner). The plastic wine glasses smelled gross, like fish and mold, and the wine was served lukewarm. It took over 30 minutes for the food to arrive, but they were busy so I understand. $1 oysters is an amazing value, and they were fresh, but they were covered in grit on the outside and filled with shell fragments on the inside. No big deal though.
During our time there, 2 of us stepped outside for ~5 minutes while the other 2 people from our party stayed at the bar. While they were outside, the server repeatedly asked when they were coming back. Over and over again, basically harassing the 2 people at the bar over when the 2 outside were coming back, implying that some of us had dined and dashed. Mind you, there were still 2 people from our party at the bar who would have paid the bill. I don't understand how you can be so worried when we step away for a few minutes, when you ignored us for the first 15 minutes we sat at the bar. It was rude and disrespectful. I work in the service industry and was extremely disappointed in the service and treatment we were given.
It's really a shame because the truffle croque monsieur and french toast were both delicious, and the inside has a...
Read moreSelune strikes that perfect balance; you know, cozy and intimate, but without that cramped, “I’m stuck between two first dates” feel. The vibe is warm and inviting, with this kind of hidden-gem glow that makes you want to settle in and stay for a while.
The drinks? Next level. I tried the BedStuy Spritz (orange cordial, sage, Prosecco Col Fondo) and it was insanely good! -Super refreshing but with this little herbal twist that makes it stand out. My friend had the Sunset Martini with miso and rice-vinegar syrup, and I stole a sip because, well, I had to. It was smooth, unique, and somehow felt like the perfect end-of-the-night drink. And if you’re into tequila, the Dirty South (corn and chile de árbol with thyme) is wild in the best way.
The space itself just fits here. You walk in, and it feels like Selune has always been part of Bed-Stuy. It’s got that mix of historic charm and clean, thoughtful design that makes you feel comfortable the second you grab a seat at the bar.
This is already my go-to for a chill night out in the neighborhood; Whether it’s oysters and wine with friends, an easy date-night spot, or just grabbing a martini solo at the bar after a long day. Selune...
Read moreSo happy to have an oyster bar in the neighborhood with a great weekday happy hour! I’d definitely recommend getting there early if you want a spot-it’s first come, first served at the bar. The oysters were fresh and delicious, though a few still had some algae on the shell. The truffle sandwich was a standout, really flavorful and satisfying. The crab salad, on the other hand, didn’t quite justify the $26 price tag, very light on the crab for the cost. My cocktail leaned a bit sweet for my taste, but it was still refreshing. Overall, I’d absolutely come back for happy hour. I know it’s a wine bar, but I do wish the menu had a bit more variety. The atmosphere is very lively and a bit...
