Everybody that have passed by NYC must have at least tried out Shake Shack at least once already. There is a good reason for that. The burger is simply mouth wateringly moist and juicy. No crazy unnecessary fancy toppings for this place. Simply a burger done well from fresh, non frozen beef made by famed butcher Pat LaFrieda just across the river in nearby New Jersey.
For those that are vegetarians, there is a good alternative called the Shroom burger or for those like me who can't decide on either the Shack burger or the Shroom burger, there is the combo of both worlds called the Shack Stack. It is a Shroom burger patty on top of the regular beef patty between two buns and their famous Shack Sauce. I highly recommend that people give this one a try. No let me change that last statement. You HAVE to try the Shack Stack. You'll thank me later.
The Chick'n Shack is a good alternative to those that don't eat beef. A well seasoned fried chicken sandwich perfection with a nice crispy outer layer with a moist free range chicken meat inside over a potato roll.
Their vanilla flavored shakes is always nicely cold and thick without being too sweet. I wouldn't say it's the best I've tried but it's up there.
I wasn't too big a fan of their fries though. It's crinkle cut style and kind of bland tasting to me, even with the cheese topping. I know that there are fans of their fries but I personally prefer the fries from Five Guys, especially the Cajun Fries version. To me, those are almost fries perfection. Buy the fries from Five Guys from elsewhere nearby in this Terminal and combine it with the burgers here and you have almost the perfect combo.
Just be prepared for a bit of a wait. There always seems to be a line the various times I passed by in...
Read moreI got a shack burger and fries, and although I didn't have to wait too long to order, it took forever for me to get my food. It took more than fifteen minutes, and because I was not expecting to wait this long, my gate was going to close before I got my food. I went to the counter to tell the person working there about this, and she waved me off, telling me to ask someone else. I stood there, quite adamant about getting my food, because I had to go. She kept repeating that it's just not ready yet, and I asked if she could check on it or ask them to rush my order. She refused, saying she has to keep giving out orders (there weren't that many orders in front of her). In the end, I asked if I could just have my fries and I left. It turns out my flight was slightly delayed and boarding hadn't started yet (by the time I got to my gate, it was about fifteen minutes to takeoff, which is usually when the gate closes). So, I went back and right when I got there, my name was called. I got an extra set of fries, but this place has super poor customer service that really just doesn't care and I ended up waiting for more than fifteen minutes which really shouldn't happen. The burger meat was overcooked and wasn't great, but the fries were fresh and hot. If you don't have time to wait, I would highly...
Read moreWe were initially concerned that we wouldn't make it to Shake Shack due to the limited time before our flight, especially with the delay that kept us from going past security within the usual 3-hour window. Google said they closed at 9 p.m., but to our pleasant surprise, they were still open well past that on a Friday night. I even submitted a request to update their hours, since the information was incorrect.
This was our second visit to Shake Shack, and once again, we were not disappointed. I ordered the avocado bacon burger, while my husband and son went with the classic cheeseburger. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals, and the fries were just as delicious. Despite the busy Friday-night rush at the airport, the staff remained efficient and friendly. We only waited about 5-10 minutes for our food, and it arrived fresh and hot.
While prices were about $3 higher than at a regular Shake Shack, it’s understandable given the airport location and New York’s cost of living, especially coming from Florida. Overall, we had a great experience and would highly recommend their burgers to anyone...
