Don’t order pickup from any of the food apps, as they won’t start making your order until you actually walk in, and they always give the same line: 5 to 7 minutes. However, they send a notification saying your food is ready, likely to trick Uber Eats so they don’t get penalized. The whole idea of pickup is because there’s never parking on Steinway St, so you can just run inside, pick up your order, and leave. It defeats the purpose of ordering pickup when you might as well walk in and order directly, plus you won’t have to pay extra fees since the store price is 25% cheaper.
I’ve had multiple bad experiences with the female cashier, who is always confrontational, acting like she’s doing you a favor by serving you, with a nasty attitude.
The last incident was yesterday. I tried calling the number listed on the Uber app to start making my order instead of waiting but no one answered. When I walked in, I got the same 5-minute excuse and when I mentioned that the phone number was wrong and should be corrected in case someone else wants to call, she went crazy. Then order was wrong I ordered 2 and she gave me one and said it’s an app error started scream more. Someone else on the reviews said the same thing happened to them. Anyway, I ended up leaving the food there and just walked out. I contacted her boss via email, and while he was nice and understanding, it doesn’t change the fact that she’s just...
Read moreMy mother, who lives in the area, recommended this place to us, so we decided to give it a try. We didn’t dine in, as we just wanted something quick to enjoy at home. My husband went to pick up the food while I stayed back.
We ordered a two tenders plate and another meal with chicken pieces and fries. Honestly, when I first took a bite, I genuinely thought it was from Dave’s Hot Chicken—the flavor and texture were that similar! (For context, both places serve halal chicken.) The seasoning was bold and definitely on the salty side, much like most fast food joints, but still enjoyable.
The portion size was generous. The chicken with fries was very filling, and we even had leftovers from the tenders to take home for later.
Overall, the food was tasty and satisfying. The only downside is that it was a bit on the pricey side compared to typical fast food spots. Still, I’d recommend giving it a try—especially if you’re a fan of spicy chicken or enjoy Dave’s Hot Chicken. It’s a solid option, especially if you’re looking for a halal place with...
Read moreSlappin Chick is an absolute gem! From the moment you walk in, the vibrant atmosphere and friendly staff make you feel right at home. The star of the show, however, is the food. Their chicken (organic ) is perfectly cooked – crispy on the outside, juicy and flavorful on the inside. The variety of sauces they offer is fantastic, each one bursting with unique flavors that complement the chicken beautifully.
The sides are equally impressive, with the coleslaw and fries being personal favorites. Portions are generous and the prices are very reasonable for the quality you get. Whether you’re dining in or taking out, Slappin Chick consistently delivers an exceptional experience. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for delicious, mouth-watering chicken. I can’t wait for...
