I had the pleasure of having the lotusella and Adeni chai again which were both amazing. I have tasted Adeni chai at literally all the other Yemeni coffee shops in both Manhattan and Astoria and this is by far the best I’ve had - full of flavor and smooth. The lotusella was also made to perfection. But, what makes this place so special is the level of hospitality, consistency, hard work and great team work at display. Special out to Mamdoh who is always so kind, welcoming, humble and professional with everyone. He always greets me with a warm smile and goes above and beyond to make me feel at home. I dine out frequently and can quite frankly say he is a rarity! Noureddine also very warm and kind makes the crepes with such passion and attention to detail. It’s fun to watch him make the crepes. I am also appreciative of Shmoney and Samira who’ve both been kind and efficient. Their prices are also very decent given the quality and quantity and surprisingly even cheaper than all the other Yemeni spots I have tried. In short, I recommend Laza for their food and hospitality. Mamdoh and Noureddine - thank you for all that you do and best of luck to all of you.

You pay for the clout not the quality of food. While it’s good to see a Muslim owned business come up, it a little concerning at how badly you get ripped off for the quality of food they offer. The Kunafa was hard, and over plastered with Nutella, Oreos, etc. This left end users with a barrage of conflicting flavors taking away from the taste of high quality Kunafa. Excellent marketing, desert options, but horrible quality for the money you pay. I ended up paying $15 for the Laza Kunafa “special”.

I recently visited LAZA Dessert Café in New York to try their Lotusella. Samira and Mamdoh welcomed us warmly and took our order, while Nourredine prepared it and kindly invited me to watch. The Lotusella was absolutely delicious! I had a wonderful experience and highly recommend everyone to visit and try it. Thank you!

It was ok, I got kanefe plain. The kanefe wasn’t cheese, it was like a sweet cream substance. It also didn’t have atar/syrup. It tasted like vanilla more than anything which was a bit confusing and not what I was expecting.

What makes kanefe is the cheese/filling. Not the shareyee(topping that varies country to country).

I was excited because I was hoping finally a spot in Astoria that has...
