They have one sandwich, torta de milanesa de pollo, that completely rocks my world. I have literally eaten it at least 50 times, probably closer to 75 by now. There have been days that Iâve gone over, thinking that I might get a breakfast sandwich. No. Milanesa de pollo. Iâve seen people get it with no cheese or jalapeĂąos. Wrong. Have it with everything. They have a pretty extensive menu of sandwiches. Iâve never eaten any of them.
Look, Iâm sure there are other great sandwiches at Smileys. Iâm sure the friendly staff there can make you whatever you want. Iâve even heard that they sell all sorts of things. But I know why Iâm there, and by now so do they. They see my face coming through the door...
   Read moreThis is literally on the corner of my block, and it's a great spot in a quick pinch. If you're heading into the city in the mornings, as I am, you can wait for two buses on this corner, the Q45 to 74th and Roosevelt, or the Q60 going straight to Manhattan.
Anyway, this is the only place I've found that toasts a bagel and add cream cheese and jelly for $1.50. They also have all kinds of breakfast and lunch options, all in the regular price range. If in need of eggs, milk, and other regular things that you're always running out of, this is a good place to stop into.
