Still Life — Restaurant in New York

I went because other people rated the matcha latte very highly but I didn't like it at all.

I got an iced matcha latte with oat milk and simple syrup to go. The matcha flavor was very weak, the drink was very watery, and I realized when I'd left that the barista must have forgotten to add simple syrup.

Would be less of a problem if the drink was $5 or less and you got what you paid for, or if it was prime rush hour and the barista was slammed with orders. However, in this case my total was $8.50 and there were only 2 other people at the shop, both of whom were already seated with their drinks.

The redeeming factors were that the ambience was nice and the barista was very cordial. However, at $8.50, the price-to-satisfaction ratio wasn't enough for me to justify going just to...

Finally! A relaxing, cool, air-y cafe that ENCOURAGES its patrons to sit down, grab some of the provided art materials and draw! What?! There’s art books and pencils and paper. What a dream. My hope is some of the laptop people there close their lids and start doodling (I wish there weren’t any laptops there, always makes cafes feel like an Apple Store or college cafe). Early days at this spot but so far so good. Peanut butter cookie and Macha were tasty!...

I've been coming to Still Life since they opened just a few weeks ago in Gowanus, and I can't stay away! Not only is the space beautiful, but the staff is extremely friendly and the coffee is excellent too.
