I have no idea why I never heard of Sugar Hill Creamery before... I fell in love with this place right away!!! We were greeted and served by Melanie. She's a whole vibe!!! So friendly, patient and welcoming... she recommended that we tried some flavors based on what we like and we went out of our boxes and ended up trying new things because of her. I got my usual and favorite flavor, “cookies” icecream, just that theirs is a little different than usual. It's called "Hello New World" and it's actually cookies and caramel flavor. It was delicious, exactly what I expected. The one that blew my mind and made me go out of my comfort zone was Melanie's favorite combination with Cookies, the one and only "Chairperson of the Board", which is Blueberry cheesecake flavor. Wowwwww!!!!!!! I am NOT a fan of blueberries, I can have them in a shake or mixed with something else but I would NEVER pick blueberry flavor over any other, it will always be my last choice. But let me tell you, this wasn't the case!!! Their blueberry cheesecake is soooo good!!!! I ended up wishing I had gotten two scoops of it instead of just one!!! It's sweet but not overwhelming, my portion had lotssss of grahams and you can taste the cheesecake flavor!!!!! My boyfriend also got out of his comfort zone getting the "Tuma Buna", which is Ethiopian coffee, ginger, turmeric and honey flavor. It tasted only like coffee and cream and condensed milk, there wasn't an overpowering flavor of ginger or turmeric and he loved it for that same reason. We had never had coffee flavored icecream before, we would never get it because it’s just not our thing but their Tuma Buna is just something else!!!!!!!!!!!! I visited the shop on Thursday night and came back Today (Sunday) and Melanie remembered my face right away, even remembered the flavors I had tried and let me know there were new flavors today. Loved the fact that she really paid attention to me the first time I visited, that even remembered every little detail Today, 3 days later and like 100 clients later! Definitely my new favorite creamery!! Can't wait to be back again!!!!!!

🍦✨ Sweet, soulful scoops with a twist! ✨🍦 If you’re looking for ice cream that actually stands out, run (don’t walk) to this amazing family Black-owned ice cream shop! 💛 They’re serving up scoops, shakes, and treats that go way beyond your usual vanilla-chocolate routine. Think flavors that surprise you in the best way—bold, creative, and made with love. Each bite feels like home with a side of adventure. 🍨💫 From creamy classics with a twist to totally unique creations you won’t find anywhere else, this place has flavor and heart. The vibe? Super welcoming. The staff? Lovely. The treats? Worth every single spoonful. 🙌🏾 Support local, support family-owned, support delicious!

Exceptional ice cream with a unique set of flavors with various add-ons like Ben and Jerry's and a few plain one (total 12 rotating flavors, 1/2 vegan). They have decent portions and prices ($9.5 for 3 scoops) and allow sampling. Definitely recommend. My favorites were the cafe touba (Senegalese coffee with Selim peppers which adds a kick that pairs wonderfully with the sweetness), Green carts (Strawberry and basil with lemon curds, very good) and the chairperson of the board (blueberry cheesecake). They also do malted shakes (and a vegan shake) and some iced teas. They have some indoor seating and restroom.

Let start of by saying the 1 star is for service, the ice cream is definitely 5 stars.

Sugar Hill Creamery has amazing ice cream — I’ve always loved the flavors and quality. However, my recent experience was disappointing. I waited in line for about 15–20 minutes while a trainee, who was understandably slow, handled all the orders. The line kept growing, and no one stepped in to help her for quite some time.

When another employee finally arrived, instead of helping with the paying customers, they served two off-duty coworkers who had just walked in, didn’t wait in line, and weren’t paying. They were given large scoops of free ice cream right in front of everyone waiting. I spoke up and said it wasn’t fair — we’d all been patiently waiting — but they continued serving their coworkers.

When I was finally asked for my order, I felt rushed and quickly ordered four scoops. I couldn’t help but notice my one-scoop order was much smaller than what the off-duty employees got for free.

I understand things can get hectic, but the way paying customers were ignored and made to feel secondary was unprofessional. I still love the ice cream, but experiences like this make me hesitate to come back. I really hope the service improves — especially with the busy season...

What a wonderful addition to the neighborhood. I first learned of Sugar Hill Creamery when I found myself in 125th craving something sweet (their original location is located there.) I was left impressed by their variety of unique flavors.

I became ecstatic when I learned they were opening a location closer to home. They offer a variety of dairy and non-dairy flavors, all made in-house. My absolute favorite - blueberry cheesecake. Yum! So creamy, so filling (their single scoop is quite generous), but it’s difficult to ask for just one scoop, haha. They also offer seasonal flavors, which are so tasty (Peach Cobbler... Fresh chunks of peach cobbler!) The thought and detail that goes into each recipe is admirable.

Totally recommend this little spot, as mentioned it’s a great addition to the neighborhood and in the Sugar Hill/Hamilton Heights / Washington Heights area there isn’t really a place like this that exists, therefore it’s...
