I’ve been here before with no issues, but this last visit was incredibly disappointing. There were four open seats at the bar. One had a drink sitting there, so we checked with the bartender to see if it was available. We even told them we were fine with one of us standing if needed, but were told we couldn’t sit there because the seats were being “saved” for people outside smoking. At a bar.

What really baffled me, though, was that the person whose drink was holding the seat immediately closed out and left. I watched it happen, so I was confused when we were still told we couldn’t sit there. Then, a couple came in after us and was seated right away. When we asked why they could sit and we couldn’t, the response was simply that it was “just two people.” There were three open seats, and we had already offered a solution.

It was frustrating and honestly felt unfair. Another customer even noticed us leaving and asked what had happened. When I explained, they agreed it was a strange and awkward situation. Even the other bartender didn’t seem to understand what had gone wrong.

I truly hope this was just an isolated incident, but it felt like there was a lack of basic consistency and understanding. There are so many good places to go in this area, and I’m sad to say this won’t be one I’ll be...

I met my friend for happy hour at The Wallace. Codie was our bartender. Although the food and drinks were good the service was absolutely disgusting. The bartender was rude and aggressive. I asked what were the wing flavors on the special and he snapped at me saying it’s right in front of me and did I really need him to read it to me. Later on I asked for another drink and he snapped again. I told him his delivery was very disgusting and he proceeded to say he was closing me out. He began to take it as a joke, and laughed at the situation with other customers and stuck his tongue out. We stood in shock and my friend mentioned that he was receiving her the same way before I got there. We both had a very long week and were trynna let our hair down a bit and passed up going next door to the Harlem Publix thinking that we were going to have a calm experience. I also asked to be billed cash and he used the card I gave to open the tab out of spite. After talking with the manager Codie still wanted to taunt us with his words and told the manager we shouldn’t get what we want as the manger tried to give us a round of drinks to try to make it somewhat better of an experience for us at the Wallace. Nonetheless Word to the wise….if you’re looking for a sassy night arguing with service this is the...

You know what sucks? Be disappointed by a place you like. Came in here again, like plenty of times before, to get Waffle fries to go (which are really outstanding). I ordered right away and sat down at the bar waiting. I saw how after a few minutes my order was out and ready to go. It was brought to the bar, and left for the bartender to see it and give it to me. There were two bartenders this night, they were NOT busy, and neither of them handed me the food. I saw how the girl who took my order just had a conversation with her friend at the bar, and ate what seemed like chicken fingers, while my food was just sitting there, bye bye crispy waffle fries. After like 5 minutes they realize I was staring and decided I could have the food I paid for. I now wish I hadn’t left a 30% tip, because apparently the fact that I was only there to get food to go was unimportant to ‘Bianca’, which is the name of the bartender who “took care” of me, according to the receipt. This happened on Wednesday August 1st of 2018, at 9:20pm, and it’ll be the last time I’ll come to this place. Not worth the trip from Brooklyn if I’m not going to be given the...

ATTENTION OWNER: I’ve been coming to this bar for years and love it—the staff is fantastic, the drinks are great, and the Smash Burger is one of my favorites burgers period. 🚨 BUT I want to bring something to your attention. Theres a huge cardboard wall in front of the bar that’s negatively impacting your business. From talking to other patrons, we all feel like we’re missing out on the summer sunshine, fresh air and seeing people walk by because the bar feels like a CLOSED DARK box. The cardboard has been up for almost two years and makes the place look uninviting and abandoned, discouraging potential customers. Either fix the pipes covered by the cardboard wall asap or reduce its size to half, to allow people to see inside and outside, which would make the bar more welcoming. 💡Here are pictures showing the space before and after the installation of the cardboard wall. The wall was originally painted black, but it has since been repainted.

Came here this Wednesday afternoon for a quick visit. Been here dozens of times but finally getting around to writing this. This spot is one of my favorites in the entire city. It feels like a home away from home. There’s a divey-arcade vibe with solid food, great service, and almost Chicago meets Nashville meets Austin unique-ness with the decor and atmosphere. There’s quirky signage and bumper stickers galore, twinkle lights, exposed brick, flat screens and plenty of fun games to play. There’s outdoor seating if that’s your vibe. Only thing I don’t care for is the music, doesn’t seem to match…anyway, Cody the bartender is AWESOME and so chill. He could take anybody’s bad day and make them feel welcome and like they have a friend and somewhere safe to go. Curious on their weekly events/potentially live music! At the wallace is always a good idea…btw, here on a Wednesday and the place is packed. A neighborhood gem for a reason! :)

Not what I was expecting based on the reviews I read. We sat at the bar and was basically ignored by the bartender. Even after waving and shouting to get his attention over the noise, he saw us and just passed us over to serve his friends or maybe regulars who showed up after us. Nothing on the menu appealed to me but since we were already there we decided to snack on something small. My husband had 2 shots of vodka and I had some disappointing waffle fries and chicken nuggets. We made light of the matter and left. Not my crowd, but a very interesting place for people watching. Yes, I thought we were at Harlem Public…I walked into this place in error. My expectations were way too high 🤣🤣🤣
