I’ve been here before with no issues, but this last visit was incredibly disappointing. There were four open seats at the bar. One had a drink sitting there, so we checked with the bartender to see if it was available. We even told them we were fine with one of us standing if needed, but were told we couldn’t sit there because the seats were being “saved” for people outside smoking. At a bar.
What really baffled me, though, was that the person whose drink was holding the seat immediately closed out and left. I watched it happen, so I was confused when we were still told we couldn’t sit there. Then, a couple came in after us and was seated right away. When we asked why they could sit and we couldn’t, the response was simply that it was “just two people.” There were three open seats, and we had already offered a solution.
It was frustrating and honestly felt unfair. Another customer even noticed us leaving and asked what had happened. When I explained, they agreed it was a strange and awkward situation. Even the other bartender didn’t seem to understand what had gone wrong.
I truly hope this was just an isolated incident, but it felt like there was a lack of basic consistency and understanding. There are so many good places to go in this area, and I’m sad to say this won’t be one I’ll be...
Read moreI met my friend for happy hour at The Wallace. Codie was our bartender. Although the food and drinks were good the service was absolutely disgusting. The bartender was rude and aggressive. I asked what were the wing flavors on the special and he snapped at me saying it’s right in front of me and did I really need him to read it to me. Later on I asked for another drink and he snapped again. I told him his delivery was very disgusting and he proceeded to say he was closing me out. He began to take it as a joke, and laughed at the situation with other customers and stuck his tongue out. We stood in shock and my friend mentioned that he was receiving her the same way before I got there. We both had a very long week and were trynna let our hair down a bit and passed up going next door to the Harlem Publix thinking that we were going to have a calm experience. I also asked to be billed cash and he used the card I gave to open the tab out of spite. After talking with the manager Codie still wanted to taunt us with his words and told the manager we shouldn’t get what we want as the manger tried to give us a round of drinks to try to make it somewhat better of an experience for us at the Wallace. Nonetheless Word to the wise….if you’re looking for a sassy night arguing with service this is the...
Read moreYou know what sucks? Be disappointed by a place you like. Came in here again, like plenty of times before, to get Waffle fries to go (which are really outstanding). I ordered right away and sat down at the bar waiting. I saw how after a few minutes my order was out and ready to go. It was brought to the bar, and left for the bartender to see it and give it to me. There were two bartenders this night, they were NOT busy, and neither of them handed me the food. I saw how the girl who took my order just had a conversation with her friend at the bar, and ate what seemed like chicken fingers, while my food was just sitting there, bye bye crispy waffle fries. After like 5 minutes they realize I was staring and decided I could have the food I paid for. I now wish I hadn’t left a 30% tip, because apparently the fact that I was only there to get food to go was unimportant to ‘Bianca’, which is the name of the bartender who “took care” of me, according to the receipt. This happened on Wednesday August 1st of 2018, at 9:20pm, and it’ll be the last time I’ll come to this place. Not worth the trip from Brooklyn if I’m not going to be given the...
