Suited NYC — Restaurant in New York

Underwhelmed - especially given the fact this place is rated highly by New Yorkers and La Cabra is apparently “overrated”.

I ordered the batch drip initially (a washed Colombian). It was served undrinkable, way too hot, and I was given a take out cup despite not being asked at all if I was a to go order. Once it had cooled it was giving me absolutely nothing.

Given the fact the drink was too hot I tried to open the lid, but in the servers haste he had cracked it so I spilled coffee on my white linen shirt, two trips to the bathroom later and I salvaged it.

When I came back my drink was being poured away, credit to the cashier they let me change my order to the hand drip at an extra cost to myself (which is a filter 3.0 brewed on a decent).

Compared with La Cabra’s hario switch method I was pretty disappointed with this. It tasted quite average, and cost the same. There was some mild acidity and ok clarity but it just tasted of an absence of care. Note this was at like 2pm on a Saturday so the place wasn’t exactly slammed.

Sadly, the temperature issues persisted - this also came out undrinkably hot and again in a takeout cup despite me sitting at a table.

Perhaps a bad day for them - but given the hype in the online specialty community about this place and the fact that a superior alternative in Black Fox sits just down the road, SUITED is a miss for me.

Maybe the espresso is good but I was in no mood to try it after my experience (I usually order a filter plus an espresso when visiting a destination...

MUST VISIT!!! Where to start? This place is simply perfect, let’s start with the service... Andrew one of the two owners (second owner is the chef) will welcome you with a sincere smile and will explain the menu to any level of detail that you desire, the place looks immaculate inside and they do the best with the outside seating (due to Covid). You can see with every detail of the place inside, the silverware, the water jug, the plates and cupés that every detail here has been well thought of, it feels warm and homey and it creates an expectation for the food to come. Let’s start with the absolutely best coffee I’ve had anywhere in the US, Andrew is an expert in coffee and the latte with oat milk is proof of his knowledge, I can say without doubt this is the best coffee I’ve tried. Moving on to the food, we ordered a basic “BACONEGGN'CHEESE” and “SCRAMBLED EGGS & TOAST”, the bacon egg and cheese sandwich was the best I’ve ever eaten, it has a chipotle Mayo and a Brioche bun that make a perfect flavor combination of flavors, you can feel the quality of the ingredients and the thought behind the final product. The eggs look a healthy yellow and the toast from grain bread is perfect, highly recommend adding bacon which is of highly quality. I had a very bad experience at Suited Cafe this morning, a staff in the Cafe was very unfriendly. I am a bit nearsighted and I wasn't wearing glasses, so I couldn't see the menu on the wall clearly. I asked this lady if there's a paper menu, and she impatiently replied, "No".

I told her it's a bit difficult to see the menu on the wall, not only did she not provide any help, but she also showed extreme impatience.

No matter what question I asked her, she would deny it and respond loudly with a valley girl accent, basically she was trying to make me feel that my question was very stupid. She even rolled her eyes to show her contempt.

I have lived in New York for more than 10 years and have not written any negative reviews for service staff, because I have not had any unpleasant experiences. I was shocked by the lady's attitude.

I've been living in the area for three years. I used to occasionally visit this restaurant, but haven't come over in the past few months. The restaurant is quite good, both in terms of food and drink quality. I just don't understand why the shop owner would hire such a mean, rude and impolite person?
