My first time checking this place out. We ordered karaage and Hokkaido Bay scallops yakitori for appetizers. For entrees we got a katsu dinner bento, and an ocean roll and a sushi bullet.
The appetizers were pretty good. The portion of the karaage was big. The chicken was tender, and the breading was light and crispy. The Hokkaido Bay scallops were nice and cooked nicely. It was a bit strange that they were served with Chinese chili oil, but it was actually not a bad combo.
The entree was pretty good, too. The port katsu dinner bento came with a salad and a bowl of miso soup. The salad was a bit too simple. It only had some lettuce, and a few pieces of shredded carrots. The sauce was nice, but I felt like there was too much mayonnaise in it. The miso soup was very nice. It warmed my stomach instantly, and it felt great in a cold and rainy weather like today. The bento had rice/brown rice, edamame, 4 pieces of shumai, 6 pieces of sushi rolls, and 2 layers of fried pork chops. The portion was very generous. I almost couldn’t finished it. The shumai was standard.
The sushi rolls were nice. The brown rice was cooked perfectly. The pork chop was very nice, with light batter and the texture of the pork was on the firm side. It was very nice. The sushi bullet was SO GOOD! The sushi roll was deep fried and then sliced to 6 pieces. On top of each piece, there was different kind of fish. It was very delicious! The ocean roll looked nice, too. However, because I’m allergic to mangoes, so I didn’t try.
Overall, it was a nice meal. It was better than my expectations. It’s one of the nicer, but affordable Japanese restaurants in the neighborhood. We will definitely come back again and try their other items...
Read moreTERRIBLE customer service. Yan at the front desk is honestly one of the rudest people I've ever experienced at a restaurant. I've been ordering from this place for almost a year, but sadly I will not be coming back, per Yan's advice.
I have never had an issue with the fish not being fresh until about a month ago. I called to inform them of this issue and they sent over a new order which was MUCH better. Very clearly different fish, so I decided to order from them again today. Once again the fish was not fresh and actually had a smell to it this time.
I called the restaurant to inform them of this issue and they insisted on remaking it, but this time I was not comfortable with that. Smelly fish takes my sushi appetite away almost immediately. Yan refused to provide a refund and asked why I ordered from them again if it wasn't fresh last time and she insisted that I was the only person with this issue and proceeded to hang up.
I then actually went to the location in person after being hung up on so they could see/smell the fish in person. Yan pointed me to the chef who proceeded to tell me that the fish had been frozen and was not fresh from that day. He let Yan know that she could proceed with the refund.
Despite this, Yan refused to give me a refund, insisted that I needed to call the following day to speak to manager, but could provide no confirmation that I would be getting a refund for the food that I did not eat.
When I offered Yan some feedback on her customer service etiquette she responded "I don't need feedback" and once again urged me not to come back to the restaurant. I have taken her advice and will not...
Read moreI’ve been to this place about three times now and I’m honestly so upset with how me and my friends were treated. The first time we went, the service was great, the food was great, and everything seemed good. The waiter (an elderly man) was super kind. The second and third time I visited this place, they were super rude and it was the same lady. The food was good and everything, but then as I was leaving the waitress chased after me to ask for a tip and I gave it to her. I felt that was really weird but I still went a third time. The last time I went though, we give her a tip in cash but it wasn’t the exact amount she wanted and she came back to our table demanding for a bigger tip. This was really strange since we’ve never experienced this before. We tried explaining to her that we didn’t have any more cash but she became disrespectful and said things like we HAD to pay at least 15% tip (it was not mandatory but suggested). Then she went on saying that if we couldn’t afford to tip, we shouldn’t have ordered to stay in and that next time to do take out. She said we were obligated to pay for her services. She said why would we order so much food if we can’t pay for it. We literally did?? Not to mention the fact that she didn’t even “serve” us correctly. She literally threw things on our table and left. Also the salad?? Terrible. It was just lettuce and one cherry tomato like 😭. So in conclusion, there’s better sushi places with better...
