I’m typically not a person to ever leave reviews, but this was truthfully the worst service my friend and I both have ever experienced in our entire lives. We loved the vibe when we walked in and were so excited to try this place; however, our server (John V on the receipt) completely ruined it for us. We were sat relatively quickly thanks to the diligent worker up front. My friend ordered a hot chocolate, and when he came back, he demanded that we order then even though I said I wasn’t ready, claiming that he would stand and wait until I was ready (which held true when we realized he wasn’t joking). We could tell he was definitely very annoyed with us, even though we had just gotten there and wanted to review the menu. After the food came out, he did not check on us the entire time even though we were out of water. He was very standoffish and made several off-putting remarks at this point, but we just brushed it off. When he brought the ticket, we noticed the hot chocolate was overpriced by $2.50 according to the menu, so we asked him to adjust it. He threw his arms up at us, rolled his eyes, and walked away. When he came back and once we had paid, we could tell he was extremely angry for someone unknown reason. He then proceeded to hover over us waiting for the tip. He stood there at the end of our table intensely staring at us while we put on our jackets/gloves/hats and promptly waited for us to leave the tip (which was extremely uncomfortable). I told him I was leaving a cash tip, and he stared back at me and didn’t budge nor say a word. We couldn’t even get out of the booth without coming within an inch of him. He didn’t even move when we were trying to leave, he just angrily stared at us (even though we still tipped 15% because of his intimidation). Given his intensity, we were too nervous to speak to a manager/store owner in fear of our safety from him.
Overall- this place has a really friendly vibe and pretty decent food too, but the server ruined the entire experience for us. It’s definitely a shame considering all of the other employees were working hard to keep the place clean...
Read moreThe treatment that my coworker and I received at this establishment was beyond disappointing. After a very long overnight shift as essential workers here in NYC, we decided to patronize this restaurant per my co-worker's suggestion. I am prepared to outline this entire ordeal and I hope everyone reads this in entirety, so that you understand how you may be treated while attempting to do business here.
We arrived around 8:15 and asked for a table. We were asked to show COVID Vaccination proof which we were not prepared to provide at the time. We were shown the door leading to outside tables and told we would be served there instead. So we waited outside for nearly 22 minutes without anyone bringing water, checking for us to order, or any help whatsoever. Eventually, we walked back inside to inquire about why we were not attended to. The initial person who seated us was very hesitant to answer, he simply said he was waiting on others inside of the dining area (several of whom had arrived AFTER we did). This prompted another server to jump into the conversation and say "outside doesn't get served until 9am." This was not indicated anywhere on the website, on the menu, or on any sign within view. Not to mention, we were not told this before we were led outside to sit in the cold for potentially an hour before someone would have served us.
This treatment was absolutely unbelievable and they did not apologize. They said anything to quelm our inquiries which just frustrated and offended us more because none of their responses were reasonable nor humane. The point is, they sent us outside to sit in the freezing cold with no plan of actually serving us! THEY DIDNT CARE TO SERVE US, SO THEY DIDNT BOTHER!
We decided to leave and go to another restaurant called TRIPLE A that served us timely, and showed us that our business is...
Read moreI get a table closest to the TVs so that I can watch the NBA game. I speak very softly, not loud at all. My son called me on my cell so that I can give him directions to the place from the Q train. This customer (with his earphones plugged in) sitting in the table next to me tells me to take the call outside. No one else could hear me talking and I doubt this customer heard me either. Like i said, i speak very very low. However, for whatever reason, this customer decided to put me in my place. I was annoyed and left the place. My son really wanted to eat at that place and was sad when I met him outside. So i was annoyed and came back in to speak to the manager. The manager was receptive and we were both cordial/professional with each other and the manager even offered another table but i was already turned off by the place. Apparently the rude customer is a regular and the manager showed no inclination to speak to the customer regarding his behavior. The manager also told me that he did not hear me talk on the phone and also that there was no rule/policy that I cannot talk on the phone. Not sure if the customer profiled me, but we are not going back...
