Sushi Yoshi(Queens) and i Sushi — Restaurant in New York

This is another wonderful discovery I made during my search for new restaurants to try and I am looking forward to visiting and dining there in person. Everything that I've ordered from here so far has been excellent in terms of taste and presentation. One can fully taste the freshness of the fish regardless of type, and the portions are perfect. They also have a large variety of fish and sushi fillings which are not as easy to find elsewhere, as well as some unique combinations for those who are trying to find other protein sources. I enjoyed the whitefish roll, the seaweed salad and all of the onigiri varieties; they have the rice-to-filling ratio down perfectly. I also like the newer dim sum options, with the chicken in lotus leaf becoming a fast favorite; it's my go-to now and I hope that it stays on the menu. I ordered off of Uber Eats the other day and got the spicy tuna roll deal. The tuna was filled with tempura flakes??? The texture was really weird and the taste was off in general…I ended up trying to make chazuke soup out of it because I knew I couldn’t finish the sushi as is. No matter how long I boiled the sushi pieces, the tuna stayed red/pink rather than looking fully cooked through and the tuna pieces when separated from the tempura flakes in the water had the texture of ground beef. Super weird.

I would’ve much preferred smaller rolls with just pure tuna and spicy mayo instead of this…thing made to bulk up the food. Really wanted to like this place but will not be...

I almost don’t want to post this because I don’t want to blow up my spot but I want this place to be around for a long time! Sushi Yoshi has the best uni toro hand roll around and the uni is high quality. It’s really hard to find good uni at a reasonable price these days or at all in this neighborhood. Plus their sashimi portions are very generous and they have fresh fruit bubble tea too! My favorite is the guava green tea with jelly. This has very quickly become my go to place.
