Tacos Comal is following what every taco spot in Ny is trying to do; and that is to mimic the ever popular Tijuana style taco of course originating from its name sake and an ever popular option in California. And just like these taqueria in NY that try to mimic the look is there but the flavor cannot seem to get it right. These tacos are 3.5, although I cannot give it in my review it’s not deserving a 4 but mediocre is not by any measure and definitely does not deserve a 3. It falls in a 3.5 category. It’s not that the flavor is bad, it’s more that I don’t taste the authenticity. The salsas were weak and the biggest saving grace of this taco spot is its tortillas, which are definitely delicious. If you’re looking for a good New York taco this is your spot! If you’re looking for an authentic Mexico or California taco they are to be found elsewhere.

I've eaten at a ton of NYC taco trucks in my 10 years living here - this is my #1 without a doubt. I live nearby and come here pretty much every week. Fresh made tortillas in the cart is such a killer touch and elevates the already awesome other ingredients to another level. Al pastor is my favorite, but the carnitas is great too. Great burritos, and the tacos are super unique (rolled almost into a cone for easy eating) and delicious! Would recommend to anyone in the area for lunch, dinner or a late snack! Super friendly service, and if you don't have cash you can pay via Venmo to avoid credit card fees. Don't believe any negative reviews you see - this place is the real deal.

I've been stopping by Tacos El Comal for a few months (since September 2021 I think) and it is delicious. The portion size is really filling and I enjoy the flavors. The one thing is that they only took cash for a while, I'm not sure if that's still the case but it's worth it to have on hand and swing by here. I like the Al pastor and carnitas proteins as burritos. It's a great post-climb if you are at VITAL just down the street.
