Delicious food, not so great service (by our server).
Three of us went for brunch on Saturday and had about a 20-30 minute wait for an indoor table which was no problem at all.
Once we were seated the waitress took our drink order right away and then because I was so indecisive, food order was about 10 min later. We received our food order quite quickly, about 10 minutes later and at this time, still no drinks. We had ordered an OJ and two coffees. I inquired about my Oj and we were told the bar was backed up. Another 5 min (25min+ at this point) and still nothing so I cancelled my OJ. My friends received their coffees 5 min before we left and then as my friend went to the bathroom, her coffee (3/4 full) was cleared. We wouldn’t have minded if there was a backup at the bar, but our server never once came to tell us anything and then when I finally asked (another server as ours never once came to check on us until after this), didn’t even apologize.
The food on the other hand was delicious. My friends loved their pancakes and I couldn’t believe how tasty my eggs were and the mushrooms -wow! I understand why they’re a side themselves, I doubt think I’ve ever had such...
Read moreFive Leaves in Greenpoint is my go-to spot for an amazing meal. The vibe here is super chill, and it’s got this great neighborhood feel that makes you wanna come back again and again. The decor is cool and cozy, with just the right amount of hipster touch.
First off, their ricotta pancakes are to die for. Fluffy, light, and served with honeycomb butter and bananas, they’re literally the best pancakes I’ve ever had. Also tried the Big Breakkie, and it was so filling and delicious. Perfectly poached eggs, crispy bacon, and avocado – just a great mix of flavors.
The coffee here is also on point. I’m pretty picky about my coffee, but theirs hits the spot every time. Strong, smooth, and just what you need to kickstart your day.
Service is always friendly and quick, even when the place is packed. Sure, there’s often a wait, especially on weekends, but it’s totally worth it. Just grab a drink and enjoy the people-watching.
If you’re in Greenpoint and looking for a spot that’s got great food, awesome coffee, and a relaxed atmosphere, Five Leaves is it. Totally recommend it for breakfast, brunch, or even just a coffee stop. You won’t be...
Read moreI’ve had dinner here twice in the past week, and I’ll start with the good news... the food is genuinely great. Unfortunately, the service doesn't match the quality coming out of the kitchen.
Here’s what happened both times: if you order an appetizer, your main dish gets delayed because the chef is timing it as a "coursed meal", even if you order something small like truffle fries. No one explains that up front. So while you’re waiting, you’ll notice other tables who arrived after you getting served before you. It’s confusing and honestly frustrating when you're hungry and just trying to enjoy your evening.
The staff didn’t seem particularly attentive either. Not unfriendly, just not very present or aware of how long we were waiting. A little communication would have made a big difference.
I really wanted to love the full experience here, which was probably the reason for my return. However, the food alone almost made me overlook the service issues. But after two visits with the same pattern, it’s hard to ignore.
If you go, just know you’re in for great food but the overall dining experience might leave something...
