Food- the fiery wings were very very good. The spices were surprisingly good but not flaming hot. Good cuts of chicken.
Service- the dude didn't speak in a way where I could decipher between FRies and SIdes. Interesting back and fourth but it got done. He was annoyed that I was frustrated at my combo NOT being 2 fries instead of mash and Mac. I was polite as usual, I work in service as well. Eventually a coworker stepped in and helped. Jelly is a big commodity there, don't expect to get any extra. Learned that while waiting for my food. 2 per customer is enough apparently.
Atmosphere- crazy lady came in begging for food was actually begging for money. Someone gave her a dollar and kicked her out. That was good, but it wasn't the workers who did it. Some insane caucasian dude kept swaying around and staring. Almost bummed into me 3 times. He had an intensity that put me on edge. Didn't engage me nor I him. I was ready for him but I might have been over-reacting. Once he had food, he sat and ate quietly. Until I left with my lady and he jumped up to watch us leave at end of our session. Groups of younger immigrant men came in but no one disrespected. Interesting, for sure, I was reminded of queens. Groups of Haitians(makes sense for area), then what seemed like Shiek(head dress) construction guys and then a group of Hispanics. Usually young men in groups at night are annoying. anyone who is older will agree. Stop playing games. There was just lots of them. Loud/boisterous but never bothering anyone persay. Just do not expect to have a romantic dinner...

Read moreLocation is everything and this "Texas" chicken joint is located on the corner of the wild, wild east of Harlem on 124th street south of Lexinton ave. The business is visible from the south east corner of 125th street and the 4,5, and 6 Lexinton ave train station entrance. You wont be able to avoid that wild wilderness and it's restless natives if you really have a hankering to Texas Chicken, so be ready for the hood. This is a grab and go kind of on the corner spot most times since seating there is little more than a bench by a window. It aint no place to hang around. The place is clean and indeed the food is quite good when its fresh and hot. The service is fast if the server is a bit indifferent in a friendly kind of way. Prices are reasonable and you can get a quick two dollar two piece chicken to top up your gut and avoid the sorry one buck...
