The waitress and the dining room manager ruined our wedding day celebration; they robbed us of a happy memory from the dinner after our wedding ceremony. The dining room manager acted with gross lack of basic humanity and empathy, let alone hospitality and customer service. We had our wedding ceremony at town hall, very simple, and chose THAI72 for dinner after. Since it was only three of us, we brought a slice of cake for tradition's sake. We asked if we could have a small plate to take the slice of cake out of the plastic container and the waitress said that she was not sure if we could do that. Our friend explained that we just got married and we wanted to have the cake on the table as a token of tradition. After a short argument we asked to speak with the manager. The manager in a defensive, mechanical manner recited that no food from outside the restaurant was allowed. We explained the situation in a very upset tone; instead of offering a congratulation and a solution the manager dug his heels in for a fight. It was a disgusting and disappointing experience, after which we had to put a tremendous effort to to balance ourselves back to positive mood from the horrible feeling of universal lack of common sense and inadequacy. To add insult to injury, the manager scoffed that a restaurant of THAI72's rank doesn't allow food form outside and alluded they don't even need our petty business. I hope that this is a teachable moment and the owner of the restaurant will make this right by sitting his employees down and explaining that they are in the business of hospitality, that they are not in the business of simply selling cooked produce, but rather providing an ambient experience. And most importantly, you should never treat customers as numbers or what's worst enemies, you should look at them as human souls and your guests, especially if you consider your restaurant...

The service here is a standout, striking a perfect balance between attentiveness and giving patrons their space, a rare find in the bustling city.
The culinary journey through their menu is a delightful experience. Of the twelve dishes we sampled, each was a testament to the chef's skill in blending traditional Thai flavors with contemporary twists. Standouts included the vibrant Pad Thai, rich in flavor and perfectly textured, and the Green Curry, which was a harmonious blend of spices and creaminess, leaving our taste buds dancing.
The Massaman Curry deserves a special mention for its depth of flavor, perfectly cooked potatoes, and tender meat that simply melted in the mouth. Equally impressive were the Crispy Duck and the Papaya Salad, each dish showcasing a mastery of texture and seasoning.
However, the Pork Skewers were the only dish that didn't quite hit the mark. The pork was disappointingly greasy, and the accompanying sauce lacked the depth and vibrancy one expects in Thai cuisine. It was a minor misstep in an otherwise flawless culinary canvas.
In conclusion, Thai72 stands out not just for its food but for the overall experience. It's a gem that redefines Thai cuisine with a modern twist, making it a must-visit for both locals and tourists alike. The restaurant's ability to consistently deliver high-quality dishes, with the exception of the Pork Skewers, is commendable. Thai72 is a culinary beacon in New York City, proving that sometimes, straying from tradition can lead to...
Read moreThis a fantastic restaurant. The food is tasty, the space is nice, and the service is very fast. We were seated within seconds (during lunch hour on a Friday) and the food arrived within a couple minutes from ordering. I came here with some work friends and we all got the lunch special, which is $12-$14 (depending on which type of meat/vegetable you get). I got the clear soup, chicken and shrimp dumplings as the appetizer, and the beef pad thai as the entree. Overall, it was a delicious meal. The waitress was great at identifying the contents of each dish as we asked her several questions about the soup vs the salad for the lunch special. I opted for the clear soup instead of the salad because I heard her say ginger and I am not a fan of ginger. I ended up trying a friend's salad and I really liked it! The ginger taste was very light and it was actually a very vibrant salad. My friend who had the clear soup finished it within a minute of getting it, so clearly she loved it (pun intended). Personally, I didn't like the clear soup because the taste wasn't there for me. As a picky eater, they executed my entree order very well. There were no bean sprouts, no peanuts, and no scallions as requested. I also wanted my pad thai extra spicy so they brought two types of spices for me, the chili powder and the chili garlic sauce. I immediately reached for the chili powder and the dish was perfect. I definitely recommend this restaurant and I'll definitely be dining...
