A small part of Greece in Mid-town Manhattan where the food is delicious, the ambience is like being in a clean, small tavrna, and the service comes with a friendly smile! Our first time at The Casual Greek and our server, Eleni, made it a very pleasant experience! The whole Branzino was fresh and perfectly grilled with a lemon/butter sauce on the side and some fresh lemon. It came with a side and we chose the lemon potatoes which had a slightly browned crisp on the outside and soft and creamy on the inside. We had a Greek salad to share which was fresh and crunchy with the just the right amount of dressing. Eleni suggested we get the whole meal together and we agreed! Small Greek restaurant in a quiet neighborhood. Great selection of appetizers and main dishes. I appreciated they also had gyros and souvlaki sandwiches, not just the typical chicken kebab and rice. The octopus is a must try grilled to perfection with lots of lime. The mezzo platter was good too I liked how the pita breads were grilled and crunchy. My husband and I had an amazing dinner here last night. We started with the keftedakia and a selection of spreads. You could tell everything was made fresh and it was all very tasty. For dinner, our server recommended the short rib mousakka which was out of this world! The short rib was incredibly tender and full of flavor. My husband had the lamb and beef gyro which was delicious as well. We appreciated their selection of authentic Greek beer. Our server was knowledgable and friendly, and the bartender makes an awesome cocktail! The restaurant itself had a nice aesthetic and pretty decor.
