Not what I expected. The reviews and pictures suggested an elegant dining establishment, with an upscale vibe. Like I said, my expectations were off. But let's start with the good. The atmosphere, the environment, visually is very appealing. You have a view of the GW Bridge down south, the place is lit up like a festival, the restaurant lighting is just beautiful. The Brazino fish dinner we had was super tasty. So was the Tres Leches desert, so, so good! However, parking is $20 so try to park outside, not the valet parking. I didn't know it was $20 till we were packed in there with other cars behind you and we got out of the car and there's no way to back out. Mind you, though, the location of the restaurant is in a very busy area in upper Manhattan and street parking is (a) scarce and (b) scary. The kind of people that are hanging out -- arguing with the bouncers -- (bouncers??) -- calling them N* and then saying they were racist because they weren't letting these Black guys in, does not make for a good first impression. I mean, toe to toe, nose to nose confrontation. The hostess that greeted me when I tried to check into our reservation a half-hour early gave me funny looks for daring to be so early, with side-eye, crooked head, flicks of the eyebrows, like I had 10 heads or something. She also ignored me for a full five minutes with her back to me speaking with other staff or addressing other guests who were to the side of me, while she clearly saw me standing there. The music is blaring, it's not "elegant dining" with that kind of music. I will say, my expectations were not matched at all with regard to this especially. The crowd was mainly younger Black and Latino folks, mostly dressed for a clubbing night out, or simple summer shirts and shorts, very relaxed. The music was straight up loud, clubby, hip-hop. A nice surprise came in the form of a violinist who stunned everyone with her elegant and lively playing, it was just a complete 180 from the hip-hop. There were a few families with kids. The beach party that was going on further away, part of the same establishment was busy and loud, but didn't detract from the experience too much. The lights from that section added to the ambiance as did the colored lights illuminating the trees around the restaurant. Once seated and ready to order, we were told that 4 of the 6 main dishes were no longer available when we ordered ("we're all out, I'm so sorry"). I made a quick joke about not having what they have on the menu, smiling, but was really not pleased. Our waitress was apologetic and quite cordial, but did not return to us quickly, or frequently during our dinner; I once noticed her dancing to the music near a register, like she was a guest, and then thought that she should make her rounds so she abruptly stopped and put on her waitress "hat" to come directly to us. I went to the bathroom once and security -- including one male and a female -- was waiting in the men's room (while men are doing their thing at the urinals) and then accosted the man who came out of the stall to tell him that they saw what he was doing and it's not allowed. He gave them an argument and basically walked away, but they gave chase and I heard them say that they'll let it go this one time, but this is not going to happen again. I have no idea what they were alluding to, but I got the feeling he might have been using drugs in the stall. When our desert came, the Tres Leches arrived very quickly after we ordered; but no spoons. We then waited more than 5 minutes for the waitress to show up, and she noticed there was no spoon, and so brought us two spoons with the coffee my friend had just ordered. All in all, really good food! I'd give it a 9/10 for food. The atmosphere is ruined by the loud hip-hop club music, complete with cursing, which is piped right into the restaurant as well as being heard from the other outside deck where it originates. Would I go back? Maybe. Would have to be with the right crowd, and right...
Read moreI had a great time at the Inwood Art Works showing of Roberto Benigni’s Life is beautiful!!! The production is great and the ambience and atmosphere including the band was beautiful!!! The food on the other hand from The Hudson needs improvement to say the least!!! The Guacamole was bland and even after we squeezed 3 maybe 4 slices of lime in it and added 2 salt packets it still tasted like a Subway bag Guac!! Sorry but for $16!!! I want more for my money! Also the Corn Rib Elote is very misleading since it has no rib!!! Why do you call something short rib elote if it has no SHORT RIB ?!?!? Again for $17 I expect more than 3 overcooked pieces of corn with chipotle mayo and a couple dashes of Parmesan. The wagyu meatballs were really good and tender and the sauce was very flavorful!! As well as the mozzarella sticks that came out hot and had good flavor!! The only reason I’m giving 2 stars in this review is because as I was ordering the food at the bar, 2 ladies in their late 40s to early 50s were stumbling obviously intoxicated asked the bartender if they can arrange a taxi to get them home!!! The bartender then replied and I quote!! “We don’t have a taxi line here”!!! What!?!? I work in the industry you are liable for one over serving said customers since they both still had margaritas in their hand!! And 2 making sure they get home or somewhere safe!!! I didn’t not want to make a scene but I was very upset at that action! A couple minutes later, I myself saw when I was purchasing totes from the Inwood Arts Works table one of the ladies sitting on the ground and the other one trying to help and desperately asking a man that was walking by if he can help her to hail a cab!! He said no and walked away from them both!!!! I walked over and quickly googled taxi near me and called the first one on the list told them where the ladies were headed to and where the pick up location would be( The Hudson)!!! This took me less than 5 minutes!!! Why would someone refuse to help a guest they over-served I get it, we live in NYC help yourself but also be a human!!! That woman on the ground with her skirt could be your sister, aunt or mother!! Shame on that bartender and shame on Hudson teach your bartenders when to cut clients off and then help get them home if needed! It’s not just the right thing to do it’s law...
Read moreOmg, this Restaurant has SERIOUS management issues. We be been there several time in the past months, and every time, we were seated and then nothing happens for at least 20 minutes. Then a waiter finally arrives and apologizes that there was staffing confusion and that they’re understaffed. One of the times we went there, we finally got our drinks ourselves at the bar because the waiter failed to bring us two beers for over 30 minutes. During the last visit on a hot day, around 2pm, we ordered sparkling water, sparkling wine and regular wine. Then nothing happened for another 15 minutes. After that, the waiter brought the wine, apologized that they were out of the sparkling wine. We asked what about the water? “Oh sorry, I’ll bring it right away.” Then nothing happened. After another long while, we flag the waitress down and again ask about the water, and tell her that the wine glass was dirty. “Oh I’m so sorry, I’ll bring your water and a new wine glass right away, and I’m ready to take your orders.” We order oysters, Sushi, and a the Mango salad. I tell her I have an allergy and to please check on the dressing, or bring just oil and vinegar. Then nothing happens for another 10 minutes. Finally, she comes back with water, and apologizes that they were out of larger water bottles and had brought two tiny ones instead. No sign of a new wine glass…. I ask again about he wine, and she : “oh sure I’ll bring it right away”. Then she comes back, and tells us they were out of the Oysters, and also had no Sushi that day. We had to order a complete new meal, one of them was brisket. Finally she brought the food, no wine, and no mentioning of the salad dressing and my allergy, and told me she didn’t know if they had put the dressing on. I ask her for oil and vinegar and she came back and only brought oil and told us they didn’t have vinegar. I asked for salt and pepper, which we never got. The brisket was terrible, dry and almost inedible. There seem to be no food stations that just offer salt and pepper, or water. The waiters are completely without peripheral perception and only focus on one task a time, going back and forth for every single item. When I asked one waiter who was serving another table, why everything took so long, he said “because management is totally disorganized”. I can’t...
