They have a deal with the Bolivian place where you can take your food there. We did that, and we informed the bartender.
This person didn't say anything but just nodded. He then came over and asked us if we wanted something. We told him we didn't know what to get yet.
Next thing the owner comes by and starts talking to us in a disrespectful manner for 3 minutes saying that we have to buy something because we have food and it's warm inside.
What he was saying was understandable but his attitude was unnecessary and what made it worst was when he said that we could buy something or go out in the cold.
Basically threatening us without even giving us a chance to do what was required.
This could have all been avoided by training his bar staff better so they could tell people coming with food from the Bolivian place that they would need to buy a drink right off the bat.
If he wanted to make things clear then he could have approached us in a respectful manner instead of being disrespectful. He could have just said, "Hi, just so you guys know. I will need you guys to get drinks since you have food from the Bolivian place."
That's it. End of story. But he chose to approach us with a rude and disrespectful attitude.
I won't be going back and I don't recommend this...
Read moreThe Jar Bar is a great local dive bar. Friendly regulars and staff. One of the few places locally that truly reflects the diversity of the area. All are welcomed and all mingle. Its the kind of place that if you go there very often everyone knows your name and greets you when you come in.
Good drinks and specials. Great backyard at least in the warmer weather. The Jar does not serve food but for those drinking at the bar its never a problem to bring in takeaway.
The bar area and restrooms are kept clean.
One thing I like about the Jar is there is a jukebox but it's never so loud as to prevent conversations. Likewise, All the Major sports are shown on TVs but the sound is kept at a level that allows comfortable conversation. Pool table, board games, connect four, pinball.
The Jar IS a neighborhood dive. It has a cool and relaxed working class vibe. If you're looking for something fancy or pretentious its probably...
Read more3 words.."not going back". I didn't see any options for food. So I'm confused about that part. The bartender wasn't attentive. The environment was a little hostile but that's not the bartenders fault even though I didn't feel comfortable. The drinks are expensive for how horrible they are. The only thing I liked was the cleanliness and music box. Didn't stay long. There was one guy there that usto work there, so he said. He was very obnoxious and disrespectful. More for the "usuals" people type of vibe. They need to step up their game if they want to make more money. The bar has the potential to be even better. Maybe learn to make a good cocktail, be aware of customers, and better bar lights. Have a karaoke night and some specials...
