Pretty bad dive bar where the bartenders don't seem to really care about or acknowledge you unless you're a regular. The service is really, really bad and both times we went we waited at least 10-15 minutes before we were asked if we wanted a drink. The second time we went, we left after 15 minutes of waiting to be asked if we wanted a second round because the bartender was literally nowhere to be found. He kept walking in and out of some back room....I mean I was tempted to just serve myself honestly, but in the end we just left and decided to spend our money elsewhere.
I kind of liked the darker lighting and ambience of the place, but it's definitely frequented by a much older crowd and lots of people by themselves sipping on their drinks contemplatively, which is fine if you're into that sorta thing. There also tends to be very mediocre soft/dad rock playing quietly in the background, which seems to pander to the crowd they draw in there. I won't be back, but if you like sipping on a few drinks by yourself without any judgment and listening to some classic soft rock, this might be just the...
Read moreCame here to play an open mic as advertised by Bad Slava. Called multiple times and no one would answer. Walked 30 minutes twice to ask if an open mic was being hosted; the first time, the bartender had no clue. The second time, the bartender told me there was no such thing as an open mic, despite the stage being set for one. That said, I asked about them not answering the phone. "What time did you call?", he asked. "I called within the last 30 minutes of you first being open, and no one answered.", I replied. I got the same response as the last bartender, "Oh, I must have not heard it." Three times? This place is gate kept by the Astoria Music Collective; I've emailed this place 2 times to book a show and was left on deaf ears. That said, I have no interest in supporting this business or ever playing here; it is blatantly obvious that this is another cool kids club and it is more about who you know that what you can do. What a shame....

Off the bat this place is nostalgia..the dimly lit interior coupled with the music, the disco ball shimmering away over the stage gives a very 1920s vibe and is a 💯 As far as service goes, you gotta go and give your order, pick it up..they don't even serve water at the table..which is fine..but then I don't get why they want to be tipped. I guess my understanding of this tipping culture would require another lifetime..they don't serve food and the drinks were good. Again, it's the vibe of the place and nothing...
