Tortilleria y Taqueria Lenchita — Restaurant in New York

I had this spot on my Want To Go list for I don't even know know how long. Lo-n-behold I was working a block away today. You KNOW I had to go, right?!? I thought I went for tacos, or perhaps nachos. But it was only 12pm, so I went with Chilaquiles Verde con bistec. BABY......... It was SOUL food. I'm always in the mood for it, but it never seems to hit right when I get it. THIS place??? It was love in Every. Single. Bite. Spicy, not too spicy. Hot straight off the grill. (I had to foof my food, yes that's good) Almost creamy, without actually being creamy. (Does that make sense?) So much flavor. It was the most amazing dish. I did ask for a runny yolk on the eggs, but it was medium. I can't really be mad about it. The flavor was still there. In the photo, it's only a half portion, bc I got excited and ate half before I took a photo. 🥴 I over tipped the waitress only bc I could today.... It won't always happen. 😂 She took time to speak to me, and she was so kind. Easily some of the best Mexican food of my life! I've been around this neighborhood for a few months now and just stumbled across this quiet and cute place. The service is great and quick, but the food alone earns five stars. I had the pupita and mulita and highly recommend both. The tortillas (if that's what you call them?) were both fresh and delicious. The green sauce and tinga chicken both are calling me back already. And cap it all off with some horchata!

Edit: I added in another photo because the food continues to be excellent. They've also seem to have upgraded their plates and flatware if that is important to you. Their green sauce is the best salsa I've ever...

When I was with my friends, we all decided to dine in fine Mexican cuisine. We found Lenchita, which is a humble Mexican restaurant in the Belmont neighborhood.
