Tropicana Restaurant — Restaurant in New York

A group of friends and I went to this establishment, and the experience was mediocre and regrettable to say the least. We were greeted with rude stares from the moment we walked into the doors and we tried to look past it. When it was time to order the food the waiter made a remark suggesting that we wouldn’t be able to afford our bill and my friends and I looked past that as well. We placed our order and 3/5 of us received the wrong food. When we tried to express this the waiter was very confrontational about it but in the end got us our correct order. Although we received the correct order, the food was overly cooked and we believe that it was because they were upset about us not wanting the original 3 meals. We ate what was edible and it was time for the bill. When the bill came we realized they tried to charge us with the original 3 meals that we didn’t order. After a long 20 minute plus quarrel the manager said they wouldn’t charge us for the plates but that “this would be the last time we can come to this establishment, and that this is why we don’t like to serve your kind”. Completely appalled by the statement we told him we were ready to pay and he asked us what the tip amount would be. We then expressed that due to service we wouldn’t be giving them a tip, which lead to him saying in Spanish “typical of you stupid monkeys”. And that concluded our dreadful experience. I wouldn’t recommend anyone...

Don’t trust these other reviews complete lies!!! The food has absolutely no flavor. The restaurant has no smell of food. I only ate here because it was convenient for me at the moment and I regret it. For those who enjoy their food with flavor don’t waste your time or money here!! I had yuca & pepper steak. Yuca is a bit dry but soft and the steak was horrible no flavor and was oily. The sauce from the steak didn’t stay on top of my yuca it slid down so fast from the oil. There’s a Spanish restaurant a few steps away wish I thought it...

The food here is really delicious it taste like grandmothers food. I went there with some family, and we all enjoy the food. The service really friendly and took the time to give us what we want exactly how we wanted it. They were really patient, the kids took their time to decide on what to eat,😅I was really happy because they ate all the food. It was exactly what we need it after a long trip. I wish this restaurant was in my town so I can enjoy the food more frequently.
