A long read but definitely worth it.
I've been going to this gym since 2016. It has had its high and low moments but overall I enjoy going here because I see plenty of people from my community. However, that sense of community disappeared with COVID affected how businesses operated. Throughout COVID I never canceled my Planet Fitness membership because I had ever intention of coming back. I wanted to continue to see members of my community. Even when I was still charged by the gym throughout some of the pandemic. People are out of work and the gym is closed but you still want to charge us Not? Not to mention, getting hit with that large yearly fee taken every February this year.
I use to respect this gym but today was the last straw. I have an at home gym which I workout at Monday thru Friday. However, on the weekend I like to visit the gym to get a great workout in. Today that workout was interrupted several times by a Planet Fitness employee. This short woman went out of her way to disrupt me from running while my mask slide down my face. Granted, I would pull my mask down here and there to catch my breath while I'm running but this woman would approach me to raise my mask. While I was running today they had the heat blasting in the gym and I had my sweater on because I like to sweat as much as possible. But today the only treadmill that was available was the one under the vent so I was getting full heat on me making it hard for me to breath while I ran. I was so hot that I had to take my sweater off. While I was running and lowering my mask to catch my breath and the woman returned to tell me to raise my mask immediately. It made me feel like she was hovering over me just to make sure my mask was up.
There's only like 3 people who work there. And this short Mexican looking woman with glasses choose to hover over me to check me for my mask. I got so upset I left. I didn't cause a scene or anything. This gym has so many issues and this is what this woman chooses to do on her shift. I would walk into this gym all the time to see countless people without a mask. I'd even see employees without a mask. I'd see employees texting in the male locker room no cleaning the area or anything. Social distancing signs are always on the ground and not properly hung to practice social distancing. Weights are never where they need to be and napkins are never properly placed in the dispense machines.
These are all the issues I see just coming into the gym twice a week and yet me catching my breath while running is the biggest issue for you? Planet Fitneas you are the absolute worse! You made me so uncomfortable today during my workout session and you pushed me to finally closing my account after years of loyal service.
This location need to get their act together. If I wasn't a respectful man that encounter could've ended really bad with my adrenaline high and me seeing other people without their mask properly on nearby as the woman returned for a second time to ask my to raise my mask while I catched my breath. Read moreI went away on a month vacation abroad. Upon my return, I was charged late fees and some other fees. Before my vacation, I requested a card change from my credit card to debit card because I had lost my credit card and replaced it. I asked to speak to the manager, and all i got was "he isn't here." I am a full-time student and work full time and sometimes redirect my route to the gym to personally speak with the manager. This time, the excuse was "there's a new manager" and that she wasn't around. The next three times i went "their system was down" I still devoted and squeezed time to stop by the gym to get these senseless overdraft resolved since they originally refused to change my card to a functioning card. Instead, they kept overcharging overdrafts on top of overdrafts when they clearly knew it wasn't a functioning card and I was not going to pay until they resolved this issue. Once they purposefully charged my fees up to $400, they were finally willing to change my card to a working card. The manager began writing down my card information without telling me the steps she would be taking, whether she would reduce it. I had to ask her if she was going to waive it , and then tell me she can only waive one overdraft.....for their mistake! Read moreThis is the worse planet fitness club, I have ever attended. They charged me a 15$ late fee after my first month although they have both my debit card and checking account information. Why take two payments method, If you not gonna try both before charging a late fee. After that I went and froze the account. Since I haven’t attended the gym since I opened the account due to spike in COVID cases. I asked if I was gonna get charged for the annual fee when the account is frozen( I didn’t want to cancel the account). And I was told by a staff member, that I won’t get charged. I am moving to another borough so I have to get a new account since my membership was not 3months old. This I went to cancel on the 31st and they charged me the annual fee on the 1st. I asked for a refund otherwise I am gonna get charged two annual fee( old and new club) but the manager said that there is no way to issue a refund. The club sucks and the staff misinform customers.
