Ugly Donuts & Corn Dogs Bushwick — Restaurant in New York

Noticed this place when I passed by and wanted to give it a try and bring a sweet treat home for my partner. I ordered the strawberry mango refresher, la Mexicana corn dog, one Nutella & strawberry donut, and strawberry creme donut.

Strawberry Mango refresher was good! It wasn’t too sweet but a little watered down. If you don’t have a sweet tooth for drinks, 7/10

La Mexicana Corn Dog- the toppings were sour cream, salsa, and nacho cheese. I ordered at the kiosk and there wasn’t an option to take certain toppings off so I asked one of the staff to take the sour cream off and she agreed. Once I got it had sour cream on it and I asked another staff member about it and she just gave me a dry sorry and handed it to me. 8/10

Strawberry Cream Donut- I was very skeptical about this flavor. However, it was my favorite dish. I will say that the donut is a bit greasy. I did also enjoy the powdered sugar on top! (10/10

Nutella Strawberry Donut- I honestly thought this was going to be my favorite. However, after tasting it wasn’t all that. It was greasy on the top and bottom.

Service- I would say the staff were friendly. Most tea, corn dog places have a quick turn around time. However, I guest this location is really popular so expect the wait time to be 20+ minutes. I did visit on the weekend so maybe I just came during their rush.

Atmosphere- the place is very open, lots of sitting, great for small or big groups. There are two kiosks to order from and a register at the front...

2023-03-04; bathroom is always out of order now. 🙄 and it's about a 30 minute wait for any order. There is no hotdog in the American dog. This went from 5 to 3 to 1 star since opening.

2022-11-05: they forgot my dipping cream!! Why does staff change so often? 🤔 service is lacking as usual. Sigh.

Update june 5th; They're definitely paying attention to the customers and social media. So kudos for trying to improve!

Original review; I've tried a few corn dogs places and this one probably the best one so far. The corn meal is soft and chewy but not greasy. It is just thick enough. And the the beef frank inside is is nice juicy.

But the ugly donuts are amazing! They fry it fresh!!! Eat it while it's warm and it was fantastic! It's got the consistency of a mochi donuts. It's even more chewy! Nicely dusted with a layer of sugar and the fresh whipped cream is amazing.

I highly recommend the American dog and the Mexican dog. Spicy mayo is a must!!!!

The two order kiosks lead to bottlenecking and long lines. The service was pretty slow, tables weren't being cleaned in between customers. There's not enough seating, there appears to be enough space deeper inside for more seats and plenty of sidewalk space for outdoor seating. The food is ok but a bit overpriced. One corn dog and donut was over $15. In addition they don't have napkins on the tables and they were too overwhelmed with customers to even ask them for napkins. They don't have trays so you have to awkwardly carry your mishmash of items by hand which could be dropped and get messy. I didn't like how the sauces were in front of the counter but the customer couldn't just use them themselves so it's confusing. Then they have one awkwardly placed trash when they should have one in the front, back, and middle. I would go back for a donut maybe, it's ok and I haven't tried the boba tea yet but from their flaws it's a...
