Checked out Understudy Community Cocktails, and it did not disappoint. The space is beautifully designed—modern but cozy, with an inviting atmosphere that makes you want to settle in for a while. The music setup is on point too—great speakers that really let the sound fill the room without being overpowering.

The drinks were just as impressive. The Dune, a North African-inspired margarita with ripe fig and tequila, was a standout—smooth, slightly sweet, and perfectly balanced. Also had The Santorini, a shareable Mai Tai, which hit all the right tropical notes without being too sweet. Both were well-executed and thoughtfully crafted.

On top of that, the Detroit-style pizza was excellent—crispy edges, fluffy dough, and just the right amount of toppings. Definitely a perfect pairing with the cocktails.

My wife wanted a drink when we got home from vacation. This has been on our list so we went. Once you figure out where to enter the bar, which is inside the bakery, you have to talk to the door guy behind the glass case or he’ll chastise you while eyeballing your wife! Make it more obvious the bakery is part of the bar!

The bartender is super nice. Forgot his name, but he’s the reason, and only reason we’ll come back. The 3 drinks we shared were watered down and had no resemblance to the ingredients listed on the menu. And at these prices!?! Easily some of the most expensive drinks around with none of the alcohol content. Or maybe the hotel ice just diluted it during the shake. Who knows. We’ll give it 6 months and see if it...

Came to Understudy for the first time on a Friday night with a friend. It’s such great space to unwind, connect, and enjoy a beautiful and deliciously crafted cocktail on the weekend! They have a basement downstairs that is set up like a speakeasy and also have outdoor seating just outside the Bakery. I had the pleasure of sitting at the bar and met Jacob the bartender, who had the BEST personality and knew exactly what he was doing! He made sure we loved our drinks and was always refilling our waters and so attentive to everything. He went above and beyond and made our experience that much more memorable!
