Vegan comfort food in a punk meets martial arts themed restaurant in Brooklyn. While this might not sound shocking to you the food will shock you with its piquant, sweet, and savory dishes!
Food** When people hear the phrase “comfort food” they tend to associate it w/ unhealthy—Toad Style is only half that (fries and other fried foods). There is a good amount of healthy, superfoods on this menu. We ordered the Sunshine burger, which features Toad Styles own house made patty (refreshing in the age of BEYOND and IMPOSSIBLE), arugula, cashew dill cheese (amazing), avocado, sweet chili mustard, and served on a pretzel bun and a side of fries—definitely a winner (Side note: ketchup is house made and very good but you must request this as they do not have it out and we accidentally dumped some hot sauce on our burger). Additionally, we tried the Tofu Scramble from their brunch menu (served until 4pm daily!)—made with Burmese tofu and topped w/ Hollandaise sauce and veggies. The scramble was light yet creamy and delicious!
Atmosphere* The walls are papered in vintage martial-art movie posters from the ’70s and ’80s, the 14-seat restaurant is appropriate for all (families, couples, etc.). Not a huge space but adequate amount of seating and pleasant/fun atmosphere.
Service* Counter service and you bus your own tables and dependent on your beliefs you may like or dislike that but I like how I feel when I help the restaurant.

Read moreSo I hardly post reviews online but I was SO looking forward to noshing on some fries and my experience was absolutely disappointing. There was a very large takeaway order with at least 3 orders of fries directly proceeding my order and in addition there was a sit down order where one of the patrons ordered fries. So as I waited on my order, large fries and a peanut butter cup, the sit-down customer’s fries where delivered and he tucked into what looked like delicious fries. My mouth started to salivate as I imagined returning to my apartment to tuck into mine. On returning to my apartment I settled in and excitedly opened my order to find that most of the fries were remnants, no more than 1/2 inch in length and extremely brown. Because I don’t believe in wasting I grudging ate the fries, apparently Toadstyle also doesn’t believe in wasting but fail to understand somethings aren’t fit for sale. I literally got 12 regular size fries in my order. I felt like I got the shaft because my order only came to $7 and change, this experience left me wondering if Toadstyle delivers service based on the amount of my order (previous orders through Seamless have been acceptable). Since this is not a philosophy I share I will not be ordering from them in the future. A shame really because they are the only dedicated gluten-free...
Read moreMy friend and I traveled a good ways to get to this place after a long day of work because we're both mostly plantbased and the Google photos looked good. They do not sell the fries in the pictures on these Google reviews. But what really bothered me the most is the customer service. I have worked in the food industry as well as customer service myself, so I understand it's not always easy. I kindly asked the employee at the register how he was doing and he gave me a blank stare. After that awkward silence, I asked him a question and he of course answered briefly. I believe he mustered out a "no". Who knew he talks! Maybe he was an AI? Idk... The vibe was just weird, my friend even said so too. I'm glad we walked out and took our business elsewhere. If you really want decent vegan food with more variety you are better off walking slightly further to this place called natural blend. The employees there actually have great customer service skills and the food is bomb. Idk if the employee I encountered at Toad was having a bad day or what, but there is no need to be rude. I do not recommend anyone to go out of their way to...
