DISAPPOINTING
This quaint little cafe lures you in with a ton of atmospheric appeal. However, I experienced a lot of confusion about what’s actually being provided. ☹️
I want to start with the fact that we paid $55 for two waffles, a bottle of water and a cappuccino. 💸I understand we are in New York but I still felt this was a bit overpriced for what we got.
The employees are disengaged. My daughter asked about which waffle she would choose out of two and it was clear she wants listening as her response was about something else. And please note we were the only people there! The vibe was that they didn’t really want to be bothered by customers. Which again confused me because the atmosphere and prices scream excellent service!
The cappuccino. Oh what a disappointment! 😩 I ordered this because I wanted the entire experience. See the picture of the advertised product. Then see what arrived. Something I could have gotten from a gas station and tasted about the same. I have no doubt had it been in a mug where the froth was allowed to breathe it would have tasted better.
So I asked! Is this normal? Again employees seemed annoyed by my question. They did offer to out it in a mug but said I had to ask for it that way from the beginning. 😒 But the picture you advertised!! Cappuccino in a mug is such a different experience.
The food was just okay. Because the waffles are pre cooked and reheated they are rubbery which is off putting. Hash-browns and Belgian stroopwafel style waffles are meant to be crispy. Salad and meal was luke warm. Not ideal for either. But again this isn’t fresh cooking.
Overall I left feeling disappointed in the money I had spent. The fact that customer service is endangered is not lost on me but it feels like this place was created for something by special. It’s liked the original owners sold to a chain or just don’t stop in much.
For those that follow my reviews I always give the good the bad and even the mediocre. This one falls in the middle...
Read moreThis place has a nice atmosphere but definitely over priced for what you get. I ordered the Apple of my pie waffle. It's a waffle that has apple jam, vanilla ice cream and whipped cream on it. I ordered for dine in. After 10 minutes the food came to my table. I asked the server if I can have some syrup on the side and she said it was an extra $2. Now going to a place that sells waffles you would think that they would give you complimentary syrup. So I had to go back to the register and pay for the syrup which was $2 and came in a little side container. I went back and started eating the waffle which when I bit into it was cold and hard. What was supposed to be a warm, chewy moist waffle was cold and hard. I didn't even bother sending it back or tell them because I was on a lunch break and didn't have any time. I was very disappointed with the quality of this food . In my opinion don't waste your time or money on this place you will be disappointed. All together with a coffee a waffle and the side of maple...
Read moreWe visited this place on Black Friday. They served decadent and rich Belgian waffles with toppings, some sweet, some savory. They also had grilled cheeses, a hash brown in the shape of a waffle, coffee and hot cocoa. The hot cocoa was very rich and decadent, as it came with whipped cream and marshmallows. The waffles were anything that you’d except—thick and sweet. Some of the waffles even came with lil’ bottles of real and pure maple syrup to pour on top! Definitely recommend keeping the extra of your waffle comes with it—that stuff is expensive! The savory waffles were not sweet, I preferred them over the sweet. They were very substantial. Also, I’m not an expert on hot cocoa in this area, but I saw online that it was the best in the upper west side, but also not everything on the internet is true. To be clear, I’m not claiming to be a hot cocoa expert in the upper west side. Anyways, this place is solid if your looking for some food...
